Jamaine Arthur aka Daytona (Hood Savior) is a Hip Hop artist hailing from the City of Brotherly Love. Growing up during the 80s and 90s, Daytona was always surrounded by music; with an especially strong influence from the ‘golden age’ of hip hop culture. His uncle was a DJ who frequently threw parties; early on Daytona became privy to just how good music could influence people. His early influences included Michael Jackson, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Nas and Notorious BIG.  There was little surprise when at 17 years old he began the transition from a fan to an artist, adopted his moniker and began to make a name for himself on Philly’s battle rap scene.

 

Daytona recently completed and released his album, 'The Preview'. Complete with witty wordplay and hard-hitting beats, this album offers a little something for everyone. From Intro to Outro, 'The Preview' is a refreshingly solid body of work that demands your attention even once you've pressed stop. Undefeated on the battlefront, Daytona became a highly sought after commodity on the Philly underground rap scene. Early in his career he was affiliated with Plead tha 5th, Redrum and Takedown records. He also collaborated with R&B artist Lala on multiple tracks on her Smokin’ La album. He also performed at various venues with her throughout the tri-state area. His own projects have included his mixtapes; Hood Savior, Hood Savior 2: Legend In Da Making, Soul of a Hustler and Return of the Savior. He has collaborated with notable hometown artists such as Peedi Crakk, Beanie Sigel, Meek Mill, Gillie Da Kid, Journalist and more. The video for Daytona’s song ‘Payback’ off of his Soul of a Hustler mixtape was premiered on BET’s 106th & Park. He has graced the stage at Rutgers University, Webster Hall, and the TLA as well as other venues.

 

Strategically titled ‘The Preview’, Daytona’s latest work assures that the best is yet to come. “…I speak pain, you can’t deny what’s real/this what you get when motivation collides with skill.” Daytona explains best on ‘the Outro’, why he’s still going hard and has no plans on stopping anytime soon. ‘The Preview’ is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal & Google Play.
