I’m super happy to share this special recording with you guys from what was not only my first time playing stereo, but was one of the most treasured musical moments of my journey so far. 

Being invited by one of my best mates to bring in the new year together in this temple of music and dance was something I’ll never forget. The energy in the room that night was so special. We were surrounded by many of our best friends, some family and the most dedicated Montreal music community as well as some friends and dancers who had travelled from the US and other parts of Canada to be there with us. 

I opened things up before Mik (Kora) took over for another 4 hours or so and then we finished things b2b for another 4 hours. 

After countless nights/days at our studio playing together with a small group of close friends, it was something we had dreamt of doing at Stereo and somehow even though the club was sold out, it still felt like an extension of those intimate experiences. Where it feels like connecting authentically to the music and to each other is not just a celebration or a party, but collective therapy. United energy, everyone channeling their joy and their pain, their love and their gratitude through the music. There are few places where this still feels possible and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to play there and do it alongside someone that has become like family to me.

I hope you enjoy it and cary a glimpse of that energy with you 🙏🏼

Kora is the musical project of Mikael B Robillard, a planet Earth citizen with his family tree rooted in Québec, Canada. From childhood tunes with Grandma to co-founding the Saisons Musique label & collective, Mikael's journey is a testament to music's power to unite. With extended DJ sets at his Stereo Montréal residency and performances on global stages in many corners of our beautiful planet, Kora's sound is a tale of passion and purpose.

Kora has performed worldwide alongside renowned artists and remixed tracks for Ludovico Einaudi, Mercan Dede, Poranguí, Husa & Zeyada, and others who inspire him. Hoomidaas Records is the record label of the DJ/artist/producer/multi-instrumentalist Armen Miran along with his partner Christina Acobiance. The word Hoomidaas is a stylized acronym for the phrase “who made us”, paying homage to how past narratives shape the present moment. Armen states, "I would not be who I am if it wasn’t for my past." This shows that he holds a deep respect for experiential knowledge above all else and intends to capture that through this label venture. Furthermore, when isolated as “hoom” in Armenian it means “raw” and when artists are invited to be a part of Hoomidaas releases Armen asks them to imagine what the raw part of the sun (the other side of the sun that we cant see) would look like. He loves to challenge their perspectives and hear what experiential wisdom emanates from his fellow creators. 
 
The music, artists, and artwork/design are a huge priority for Armen. His mission is to hand-craft every aspect of Hoomidaas adding to its memorable intrigue via his experiences travelling and playing shows. He tells us that, "a few years ago I played a 12 hour set surrounded by the most beautiful artwork all over the walls of the space. That space is called Rambalkoshe. Since then we have been collaborating with Rambalkoshe and they’re who made our vision and art design come to life for many of the illustrations associated with the label." The synchronistic nature of the partnerships he embarks on are a strong indicator that intuition combined with drive can take you somewhere truly magical. 
 
Currently the label works with a handful of artists. They have each of their artists release a mix on their mix series called “Midaas” which comes out every two months. Additionally the label releases bi-annual compilations, one in the summer called “Hoom Side of the Sun” and one for the winter called “Hoom Side of the Moon”.
