Premiere: Armen Miran & Lost Desert - Don't Worry [Hoomidaas]

Making his debut on Sudbeat is the gifted Federico Fioretti with two mid set chuggers with a summery mood.

Born and raised in Turin, Italy Federico began his musical journey with influential bands such as Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode and disco icon Giorgio Moroder. Breaking onto the scene in 2016 with the muscular 'Anchor' on Glasgow Underground, he has quickly found high profile fans in Harry Romero, Christoph, OC & Verde and more. Now signed to Toolroom, Rumors and This & That (amoung others of note), Federico is experimenting with a newer hybrid sound that marries ethnic flavours with the melodics of House. 

Suitably, the lead track 'Genesis' is the perfect audio introduction to Fioretti's sound. Tough and hypnotic, the track ebbs and flows as all good dance floor groovers do. Vocal ad libs punctuate the strong melodic motifs adding soul to the powerful and bewitching energy. Next up, 'Panta Rhei', an ancient Greek philosophy term meaning 'everything flows'. Opening with a tough but sparse low end grunt, the track develops warm deep house melodics for those sunrise sets we all love to stay up late for.

Craig Pruess is an American composer, musician, arranger and gold & platinum record producer. His career has covered diverse areas including: record production for international stars such as Anu Malik, Sir Cliff Richard, Sheila Walsh (nominated for a Grammy Award in 1983); musical arrangements for Massive Attack, Def Leppard, Bond; feature film soundtrack music (Pride & Prejudice, Bend It Like Beckham, It's a Wonderful Afterlife,); world music producing, performing (sitar, keyboards and African percussion) and arranging for international acts such as Massive Attack, Katie Melua, Manic Street Preachers and Def Leppard; television music ("Peak Practice", Sue Lawley Show) and also arranging, sitar and sound design work (for such well known composers as Danny Elfman, Gabriel Yared, Patrick Doyle, Carl Davis, John Altman); television and film advertising/corporate music (over 300 commercials to date); lecturing and teaching; concert performing (solo and with his own ensembles but also with Mike Oldfield for the world premiere of "Tubular Bells II", September 1992, at the Edinburgh Castle); sound engineering, synthesizer and computer music programming, sound design and music technology innovations.

Hoomidaas Records is the record label of the DJ/artist/producer/multi-instrumentalist Armen Miran along with his partner Christina Acobiance. The word Hoomidaas is a stylized acronym for the phrase “who made us”, paying homage to how past narratives shape the present moment. Armen states, "I would not be who I am if it wasn’t for my past." This shows that he holds a deep respect for experiential knowledge above all else and intends to capture that through this label venture. Furthermore, when isolated as “hoom” in Armenian it means “raw” and when artists are invited to be a part of Hoomidaas releases Armen asks them to imagine what the raw part of the sun (the other side of the sun that we cant see) would look like. He loves to challenge their perspectives and hear what experiential wisdom emanates from his fellow creators. 
 
The music, artists, and artwork/design are a huge priority for Armen. His mission is to hand-craft every aspect of Hoomidaas adding to its memorable intrigue via his experiences travelling and playing shows. He tells us that, "a few years ago I played a 12 hour set surrounded by the most beautiful artwork all over the walls of the space. That space is called Rambalkoshe. Since then we have been collaborating with Rambalkoshe and they’re who made our vision and art design come to life for many of the illustrations associated with the label." The synchronistic nature of the partnerships he embarks on are a strong indicator that intuition combined with drive can take you somewhere truly magical. 
 
Currently the label works with a handful of artists. They have each of their artists release a mix on their mix series called “Midaas” which comes out every two months. Additionally the label releases bi-annual compilations, one in the summer called “Hoom Side of the Sun” and one for the winter called “Hoom Side of the Moon”.
