Which political party benefits most from an uneducated electorate?  Which party is heavily supported by unions that govern the teaching of our children (hiring their boss?)?Why don't teachers’ bosses create transparent, continuously improving performance metrics to measure & improve teaching’s productive output=educated students? Who would insist upon and monitor these performance metrics? Why are average grades going up while average SAT scores are going down?Why are our public schools reducing the teaching of Civics, Economics, STEM, US History, etc.? Why are they replacing these with gender studies, social justice studies, grievance management, identity politics, etc.? Why has nothing happened from the 1983 US Gov. report, "A Nation At Risk" it said, "If an unfriendly foreign power had attempted to impose on America t he mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war." https://www2.ed.gov/pubs/NatAtRisk/index.html

David Davenport, a counselor to the director and a research fellow at the Hoover Institution, discusses the genesis of modern conservatism.  Modern American conservatism, Davenport avers, was born in the 1930s, when Herbert Hoover took on the excesses of the New Deal. The New Deal overturned the way in which the United States worked and was governed. Eighty years later the New Deal is still the paradigm for US domestic policy. Obama is adding to the New Deal ideology with many of his policies, which are undermining US liberty and its rugged individualism. In his recent book, The New Deal and Modern American Conservatism: A Defining Rivalry, Davenport goes back to the 1930s to illustrate how the twenty-first-century discourse between progressives and conservatives grew out of the Roosevelt-Hoover debate of the 1930s.
