When I discovered that Snake had used this beautiful sample from the "French Touch 1.0" period. I loved the concept! And when I heard this synth solo in the middle of his version, I thought that I had to try to do it on my violin! I love to put violin parts into my productions more and more. And you like it too?

From song to song, i try to explore my creativity in other ways. the "riff" of the chorus comes from the beginning of a song was composed when i was in university. at the time, i imagined it played on the electric guitar. It's fun to rediscover it on synth and violin.

Time goes on and we are getting closer to the conclusion of the 3rd EP. Damoiseau was thought as a calmer and more soaring track than what I have released until now. A fresh track for the summer. For a long time, the demo title was "Wave" to evoke the waves of synths that follow one another in the background. Then came to me the succession of lyrics of the chorus which led me to think of the old-fashioned term "damoiseau".

For several months I've been preparing a medley/djset retracing the career of our favorite helmeted duo.  I've come to share with you a project that's close to my heart. 

There are bands that mark an entire generation. Daft Punk are one of them. 
I remember listening to the Discovery cassette over and over again, and having to rewind it. 
I remember Human After All, which I bought with pocket money. 
I remember the upheaval of Tron Legacy in its mix of orchestral and electronic music. 
I remember Random Access Memories, which seemed to open up a new landscape of possibility. It's for all these reasons that I wanted to share with you this Medley accompanied by visuals that I've meticulously prepared for you today.

For this mashup, I wanted to bring together two tracks that share the same spark: “D.A.N.C.E.” by Justice and “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5. D.A.N.C.E. was created as a tribute to Michael Jackson, so it felt natural to push that homage even further by blending it with one of his most iconic early songs.

The idea really clicked after I watched the trailer for the upcoming Michael film ! It put me right in the mood to dive back into his world and explore the energy that shaped so much of modern pop.

The result is a fusion where the bright, explosive soul of the Jackson 5 meets the sleek, nu-disco groove of Justice. A musical bridge between eras, styles, and the timeless urge to dance.

Kingdom Hearts - Face my fears (Horalion Remix)

How can you be yourself on a first date, first day of school, first day of work? Sometimes it's tempting to have two personalities. That's the question I asked myself when I made this music : An aethereal pop music ballad with progressive house synthesizers and drum & bass rhythm. 

The story of this song starts in 2009, at that time I was listening to a lot of Japanese rock, French electro and movies soundtracks. Then years later I remembered that little music box melody of the intro and that duet which is now in the middle of the title. But I couldn't find it in my archives! Luckily, a friend of mine had kept the first version on his computer. If this title exists today it's thanks to the first leak of my career!

So I started to reuse the chord progression from the original track, the music box melody and the duet with my new electronic sound palette. But I wanted it to be a song, so I had to think about the lyrics. After several attempts in English, I couldn't find the lyrics that corresponded to what I was unconsciously looking for. Then I came back to the very first demo of 2009 this track simply entitled "raison d'être". 

Then I decided to write a simple text, inspired by Hamlet's "to be or not to be", transposed to our "social media" current era. The original title made me think, "Why not  a french song?". That's how the gimmick of : « To be or to appear, that is the question. To be or to appear, what is my reason for being ? » was born. The text is more introspective without being explicit so that everyone can write their own story with it. 

Here is the result of these years of these years of exploration. I hope you'll enjoy the journey.

The finish line's coming up. "Deserted Palace" is the third single from EP.I "Years of Youth". 

The idea behind the title was to make it feel like flying.  On this track, the drop is more reminiscent of progressive house hovering. 

Although I can play the violin, at the time of composition I didn't have a microphone to record myself. So the sound of the violin in pizz comes from a VST. I could have changed it but I liked the idea of using an automatic arpeggiator to play an acoustic sound. As a kind of hybridization between acoustic and digital. 

The title is a small reference to Jean-Michel Jarre's first album. Before composing Oxygène he had worked to create ambient music. My track doesn't necessarily take up Jarre's sounds, but it's a track I composed during the writing of my dissertation on Jean-Michel Jarre's album Oxygène.

By taking the slick sound of EDM, combining it with Japanese Rock and infusing it with his Classical Music roots, Horalion creates a unique landscape of sounds and expresses his « French touch » sensibility.

Born Aurélien Hillion, the independent artist grew up in a small village in Normandy (France). With 12 years of music school as a violonist and a Masters Degree in Musicology, he decided to broaden his creative aspiration to new ground with electronic music.

In winning a competition in 2018 by remixing "IOUE" by Tommy Trash & Taisun, he explored that fragile balance between a classical violin introduction that builds up to a dense drop.

He doesn't see an opposition between his classical influences and his electro-dance aspirations. « There is a rich history of Baroque dance with a chamber orchestra (violin, alto, cello and harpsichord). I found it interesting to keep these classical instruments and put them into a contemporary context. »

His greatest musical influences came from three different musical genres : The classical music of his childhood (Bach, Vivaldi), the Japanese Rock of his youth (X Japan, Malice Mizer) and the Electronic Dance of his adulthood (Daft Punk, Justice).

To start the decade, he chose « Raison d'Être » as the song announcing the upcoming release of his first EP « Years of Youth ». A song started 10 years earlier, which closes a loop of artistic research. A blend of the past and the present to envision what the future could bring.
