Dark Souls - the game in which you constantly die, resurrect and continue to fight. Parallels to current times are obvious: daily setbacks one has to overcome - giving up is not an option. On this stage Horizis tell the tragic story of knight Artorias the Abysswalker wrapped in an epic symphonic metal song. A mix of lore and story gives deeper meaning to the legend of Artorias and tells rather unknown insights, which turn the heroic saga into a tragedy.

Knightfall

Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) ist das wohl beliebteste Pen-&-Paper-Rollenspiel weltweit. Lange vor der Netflix-Serie Stranger Things war das Fantasy-Abenteuer eine der beliebtesten Freizeitaktivitäten von Nerds überall. 
Total Party Kill beschreibt dabei das gefürchtete Szenario, bei dem die ganze Abenteurergruppe in einer kritischen Situation stirbt, sei es aus Pech, Gier oder Ungeschicktheit.
Die Aachener Nerd Metal Band Horizis sind große D&D-Fans und haben mit Total Party Kill eine energische Liebeshymne an das Rollenspiel geschrieben. Zwischen Fantasy, Fiction, Mittelalter und dem kollektiven Entfliehen aus der Realität, wurden alle Klischees, die Fans des Spiels feiern aufs Korn genommen und die bunte Welt mit vielen der beliebtesten Charaktere zelebriert. 
Musikalisch bewegt sich der Song anders als der Vorgänger “Knightfall” eher Richtung Melodic Death Metal, behält aber die für Horizis typische musikalische Vielfalt zwischen Orchester und Mezzo-Soprangesang. Das hohe Tempo, die treibenden Riffs und das akzentuierte Keyboard erinnern entfernt an Suidakra, frühe Ex Deo. 

Da das Rollenspiel der Band so am Herzen liegt, wurden für das Projekt nur kreative Partner ausgewählt, die ebenfalls große D&D-Fans sind. 
Für den Master des Songs konnte Sander van der Heide von den bekannten Wisseloord Studios aus den Niederlanden gewonnen werden, der schon mit Epica, Within Temptation und Lionel Richie zusammenarbeitete. Über die Zusammenarbeit mit Horizis sagte er: “I love D&D, great project: They know what they are doing, they know what they want and they know what they need. Makes life as a mastering engineer so much easier.”
Das Design des Cover-Artworks mit dem D&D-typischen Beholder Monster stammt zudem von niemand geringerem als Patrick Wittstock von Azrael Design, welcher hinter Logos und Designs für Heaven Shall Burn, Amon Amarth und Neaera steht. 
Die Videoproduktion wurde durch verschiedene LARP und D&D-Fans unterstützt, um die Band in aufwändigen Charakterkostümen zu gewanden. Gedreht wurde das Video über eine D&D-Gruppe die durch die Lande zieht und Abenteuer erlebt unter anderem auf der Eyneburg in Belgien sowie im historischen Ponttor in Aachen.

As a nerd metal band, we were happy to hear about the new The Legend of Zelda "Tears of the Kingdom" game coming May 12th. We asked our fans if they would love a Zelda metal song and what references should be in it. Receiving lots of input, we went ahead and created the song "Hero of Time" packed with memorable, funny, and nostalgic sounds and lyrics. This song will bring joy to all metal fans who love Zelda, its iconic soundtrack, orchestra, and of course the ocarina.
