The second single to be taken from Nitri’s debut LP ‘Zero Chance’ shows a softer side to his music.
‘Going To The Sun’ features the vocal talents of regular collaborator Grimm. The Canadian’s dulcet tones hang delicately over a superbly crafted framework of warm, bouncing bass, subtle synth stabs and sharp drums. Much like ‘Undeserving’ from HZN072, Nitri’s production compliments the vocals without overpowering them, giving them the time and space they deserve to add the spiritual essence of the track.
‘Lies’, featuring Level 2 & Grimm was part of Nitri’s ‘Secrets EP, and our penultimate release of 2013 and what better way to welcome in 2014 than to get the mighty Calibre in for remix duties. Words really do not do this justice, with the Irishman effortlessly stamping his beautifully unique, soulful sound over an already elegant original. Grimm’s vocals again take centre stage backed by the classic Calibre combo of delicate, rolling breaks, understated instrumentation and exquisite musicality. No-one does it quite like him…

Amoss step into lively territories with their 2014 return to Horizons Music. This single sees a VIP rework of their 2013 collaboration with MCJC, Bleed It, originally featured on the Dreamthief 4 LP. This rework brings a complete change in groove and mood to the table, incorporating a more syncopated beat with a much deeper bass presence.   
Calokan is a throwback to the duo’s early Horizons Music releases, but with an added twist. The dramatic and textural intro paired with an array of odd field recordings makes for an intense atmosphere whilst maintaining a heavy underlying sub laden roll. Those that are familiar with Amoss will know all too well that the second drop always has something special in store, in this case a straight, two step beat smashes through the breakdown, adding a huge switch up to the overall energy of this track.

10 years ago Horizons Music released their first ever piece of music, a track going by the name of '10 steps', produced by Skitty. Since that epoch making moment, the label has evolved into a staple of the Drum & Bass scene, becoming a byword for consistency and quality in the process. It is therefore fitting that ten years on, some of the labels regulars come together to produce a masterful 14 track album, that encompasses everything Horizons is about.
 
A quick flick through the roster for the album tells you everything you need to know. Stalwarts of the scene Digital and Spirit make both individual and collective appearances, providing their trademark blends of invention and raw energy. Break delivers a quintessential effort and Jubei steps up to bring his own relick to Skitty's '10 steps'. Another remix of Horizon's inaugural release comes courtesy of label regulars 'Amoss – doing the original justice superbly.
 
Amoss also take up their place beside label favourite Nickbee in taking on individual efforts, whilst artists as well renowned as DLR, Need for Mirrors, Mako & Hydro, Silent Witness, Detail and Scar make a strong a line up as you are liable to see on any release this year.
 
Musically, it is Horizons all over. From the Thunderous crunch of 'Outta Time' and 'In the Moment' to the deeper cuts of 'Piano Licks and 'Fields', this is an ode to quality. Add in the brilliant experimentation of music like 'Organic' and 'Keep me in the Loop' and you have an album that is worthy of representing 10 years of Horizons Music.

Review:
Digital returns to Horizons for the second time in 2014 with a fresh EP of deep, dark explorations. "Deathwish" kicks things off with deep, dubby sounds pared back to a half-time tempo halfstep, while "My World" changes track, taking things in a sweeping, almost uplifting direction, very liquid but still with that Digital edge. "Damage" sees Outrage joining Digital in the studio for some dangerous break chopping and old school synth work, providing the EP's most dancefloor-driven track. "Joker" sees Spirit bust in for the collaboration, blending acid synths, frantic syncopations and dubby echoes over a solid backbone of bass. Last but not least, "Cold Case" takes things dark and minimal, with recorded samples, unorthodox percussion and an edgy atmosphere that leaves an uneasy feeling in the air long after it's over. Solid, experimental D&B from one of the best.

•	Horizons Music have time and time again upheld their ethos. This is something which is becoming abundantly clear with each release. It’s impossible not to become entrenched within their discography, every part of it as spectacularly moulded as the next. And it’s the artists they hand pick for their roster which makes their music so especially perfect for late night rendezvous on the dancefloor. Villem & Mcleod, two artists whose synergy is apparent from each release they’ve put out together. It’s an energy which is about to take the helm once again; throughout the next three tracks Horizons Music will further lodge itself within your musical subconscious.

•	‘Wonderful’ opens the EP with an intricately written intro, including lofty piano notes and shaking percussion. With a bassline that quivers and flutes which add to its waif-like atmospherics, prepare to be taken into the sound of Villem and Mcleod. However, the light has a darker side, and you’re quickly plunged into a low frequency distortion of bass. Female vocals add yet another shade, dicing up the segments and presenting a huge colour palette of sound. ‘Spiritual Value’ and ‘Mystic Ritual’ both give a valuable insight into the minds of Villem & Mcleod, but channel their own vibe individually. ‘Spiritual Value’ bleats through elongated note arpeggios and precarious samples of speech. But as always, they take you down a murkier path and drop the level two or three notches below zero. Following this up, ‘Mystic Ritual’ switches up a notch, this time not leaving you guessing and firing you synapses first through a chasm of plucky strings and carefully laid out pads. Drums push through the mix giving it an edgier feel, whilst vocals are utilised to soften the blow. The drop, although slightly less illusive, still catches you off guard. You find yourself brought forward on a jazzy riddim, one that’ll take you into the darkest nights of any club. Horizons present a package of three delights.
