Elles sonnent, tintent ou assomment ; claironnent, carillonnent et déraisonnent.

Tintinnabuli est une création sonore collective née de déambulations à la recherche des cloches, clochettes et sonnailles d'Arles et de ses environs en avril 2021. Ces enregistrements de terrain nous amènent peu à peu à explorer d'autres résonances inattendues : celles chez les habitants  et dans la nature qui les entoure.

Enregistrements et montage ont été réalisés dans le cadre du workshop field-recording organisé par Phonurgia Nova avec Félix Blume, par Adrien Vinay, Anne Barthélemy, Aude Rabillon, Barthélémy Belleudy, Charlotte Penchenier, Christine Dancausse, Elizabeth Pouliquen, Grégoire Terrier et Olivier Pichard.

An improvisation made in my studio in April 2020 on the modular synth. It is largely based on ethnographic cylinder recordings from the Kodaly archive, made in April 1914. These small fragments are sampled with oscillators controlling the grain, loop size and time points of the samples. Pitch and envelope followers on the samples in turn control these oscillators and other physically modelled sounds. Yannis Kyriakides, Amsterdam, April 2020.

A little improv in Pythagorean tuning by Stacy Fahrion. I'm currently using the free trial version of Pianoteq. It's an amazing program, and so far I actually love the creative limitations it imposes by leaving certain black keys out.

The cycle in the LH is 5+6+7+6+5, and the RH is playing a 3 over 5 polyrhythm.

Meditation on Time (29-beat pattern In G Dorian)

Now that I'm exploring microtonality I spend time deciding new things like whether or not the 2nd should be 10/9 or 9/8. 10/9 seemed a bit too mellow, so I went for 9/8.

Composed in 2021. A work in three parts for organ.

1. Dialogue: a trumpet tune masquerading sometimes as a trio sonata, with minimalist-inspired textures. Exploring contrasting voices and registers of the instrument.

2. Chanson: a lyrical pedal solo wrapped in a warm, lush string celeste

3. Carillon Toccata: a virtuoso piece exploring the sonorities of big bells and the power of the pipe organ.
