Wow, this song has been a long time coming. I wrote it over two and half years ago, so it feels SO special to finally release it. This song is about closure. Closure after letting go of someone (or something) that has weighed us down with worry and self-doubt. It’s a song about relief and being able to feel happy again. To be FREE. When I reached out to Luma for the vocals, she ironically was also getting thru her own struggles at the time, so she related a lot to the concept of this song. Knowing that makes this track that much more special to me. I cannot thank her, and her manager Shemar, enough for giving me a chance to let this one shine. Also a very special shout-out to my good friend Adam Pearce for adding the finishing touches and always helping me progress with my music. And lastly, shout-out to my designer Olivier Blanc for always providing amazing visuals for my music. Hope you all enjoy this one 🕊️🎶⛅

The fourth and final instalment of Hospital Records’ popular VA EP series is upon us. ‘Future Symptoms Vol. 4’ rounds off the 2021 release streak with four fresh cuts with some of the most exciting acts emerging to the forefront of drum & bass. This time around expect a full spectrum showcase from Dutta, Viridity, Son, Hallow and xia - the sounds of the next generation.

Opening on a high note, Dutta brings the energy with his latest bouncing roller ‘Set A Level’. Skittery synths and a ruthless bassline showcase his signature sound which he is quickly carving out a name for himself with. His prior experience is not to be left unnoticed, with releases under his belt on Serum & Benny V’s Souped Up Recordings, DnBAllstars and Informal, Dutta is quickly rising to the top.

Hospital Records’ Women In Drum & Bass mentee for 2021 Viridity steps up for track two with a beautifully dark drum & bass stepper featuring her very own vocals on top of her meticulous production skill. Warm your speakers up and get ready for a slew of immersive soundscapes which demonstrate the Bristol-based multi-talented musician’s artistic ability. When she’s not in the studio you’ll be able to find Viridity tearing up stages at club nights and festivals, as well as garnering support from the scene’s biggest publications including UKF.

Son’s ‘Over’ journeys down into the deeper avenues of liquid drum & bass as he marks his debut release in style with a delicately crafted piece of 174BPM mastery. Lose yourself amongst airy pads, sombre vocal chops and crisp breakbeats which seamlessly infuse into a collective stream of soulfulness. It’s safe to say this is a promising debut and the start of something special for Son.

Heading over across the pond to Boston, Massachusetts you’ll be able to find the ambient electronic prodigy that is Hallow. With an impressive selection of music already available to listen to, their Hospital Records debut sees them team up with the stunning vocals of xia who’s also flying the flag for US drum & bass. With the duo no strangers to collaborating, their initial pairing entitled ‘A Walk In The Woods’ was first scouted in Mitekiss’ production feedback streams and received instant support from London Elektricity. ‘Dappled Light’ is a gorgeous follow-up with dreamlike vocals and uplifting instrumentation.

Rounding off the final edition of their widely loved Future Symptoms EP series, Hospital Records have proudly shone a light on and nurtured some of the scene’s most prosperous talents. After thirteen years and over ninety releases, Med School has stacked the chairs and closed its doors. As a final farewell to the label, the ‘Med School: Graduation’ compilation celebrates the life of Hospital Records’ once sister label, as well as the musicians and culture that defined it, with 23 brand new tracks from label stalwarts such as Bop, Keeno, Etherwood and Whiney as well as the new blood that was always so important to the label’s experimental output.

In Med School fashion, the album brings together a myriad of drum & bass stylings and beyond. From the microfunk movements of Bop to Illexandra’s warped emergency warnings, Lakeway’s upfront grime beats to the unique electronic musings of Frederic Robinson, A.Fruit and Kimyan Law.

Representing the serene side of Med School is Etherwood’s ‘Nowhere To Go But Everywhere’, alongside beautiful contributions from Keeno, Natus and Polaris. The tribal infusions of Royalston’s stepper ‘Mark’s Shibari Groove’ and Lung’s techno-fused rabbit hole ‘Stop Crying’ switch up the pace to reflect the breadth of Med School’s outputs. The compilation also calls back to the very beginnings of the label with a special VIP treatment of S.P.Y’s first release in the Hospital camp, MEDIC1 ‘Black Flag’.

Whiney not only brings in his deep new stepper ‘Close To You’ but is also the man behind the continuous mix on the album, seamlessly bringing together all 23 tracks for one final salute to Med School Music.
