I wanted to make a heavy track with a weird intro, the intro is 2 robots and a soldier going through the rain forest, until they get attacked, the bass morphs into different scary animals. It's the single for the 'Blood' EP. My first release on Mad Zoo, and my first [solo] release on a US label.

After releasing on Vision & Hooversound, and enjoying support from Tom Ravenscroft, Sherelle, Noisia, Ivy Lab & Amon Tobin, big man HØST steps onto OM with two weighty killers 'Eyes' ft Taurri & 'Fidget'.

In his own words -

“During the first lockdown I was writing a new song/sketch every day and ‘Fidget’ was one of those. The lead is just a single recording of me playing around on the Korg Minilogue with some simple distortion. I wanted to write more drum and bass as for ages I had only really written slow-tempo beat music so this was me playing around with something different. I didn’t really think the song would ever see the light of day but sent it to Tom when he asked to hear some WIPs.

‘Eyes’ started out as a completely different song called ‘Faded’ - I was originally going for some minimal groove and as per usual changed it time and time again till it was unrecognizable from the original track - I met Taurri through a mutual friend at university and we hit it off and planned to work on something together. I got in touch with him around Christmas 2021 and he sent me through the vocals & I sculpted the final track around them. I wanted to make something dance floor-esque to go with the more wiggy sound of fidget.

I was elated when Tom asked to release these tracks on his label as his music really inspired me to start production. I remember going on holiday to Portugal when I was a wee nipper and listening to 'Underpass' for the first time on the Shogun Audio podcast. It feels really Full Circle (Rockwell reference lol) and I’m excited to share these songs with the world.”

"While making this song I noticed it sounded a bit like a car that cranks, when I searched that exact term, I found Scotty Kilmer on YouTube and just loved the way he talks. I wanted to use his cranking car sound, but ended up using his voice for the song as well. We sent him a message to ask for permission and he replied "Go right ahead and use it, I find it funny as hell". It's a serious song with a funny gimmick to it."
