Next up on Saved Records is a release that we have been super excited to share with you, and one that label boss Nic Fanciulli has been hammering in every set. We welcome RETNA to the family who teams up with Nic to deliver their brand-new collaborative single, ‘This Is Life’. Although fairly early on in his career with his first release surfacing in 2019, RETNA has gone on to release on some of the most respected labels in the industry including Toolroom, Mr. Carter, Virago Records & Toolroom Trax alongside his own label BOTAR Records and has received support from established artists including Adam Beyer, Skream, Carlo Lio, De La Swing, Ida Engberg, Huxley and more. ‘This Is Life’ showcases RETNA’s distinctive raw and intrusive dancefloor sound with hypnotic vocal chants and a grooving bassline combined with Nic Fanciulli’s Afro drums, rave-inspired synths, thundering kicks, and a rumbling low end throughout. Originally released in November 2021, Guy Gerber and Albertina’s ‘Bocat’ saw support on BBC Radio 1 from Pete Tong and Danny Howard, with the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Ame and many more spinning the record in clubs all over.

Now recruiting Michael Bibi for a hard-hitting club remix, the Solid Grooves founder track delivers a new lease of life to the original. Bringing his signature production style to Rumors, Bibi adds twisted vocal chops amongst spacious percussion, deep acid lines, and pounding kicks.

Ben Hemsley makes his debut on Patrick Toppings’ Trick this November with the ‘King Of Darkness’ EP.
Hailing from North Shields alongside Trick founder Patrick Topping, emerging DJ and producer Ben Hemsley is the latest name of note from the UK’s North-East. Topping and Hemsley have been connected in their hometown for many years. A pal of Hemsley’s brother, Patrick had been championing Ben from a young age and was the first artist to support Ben’s early productions. Since then, Hemsley has picked up support from the likes of Michael Bibi, Green Velvet, Solardo, Eli Brown, Calvin Harris, Pete Tong, and Lee Foss via a string of jacking, rave inspired house tracks over the past year. It’s fitting that the Newcastle native now lands on the fellow Geordie’s label this November.
Solidifying the release as a family affair, Daddy Dino makes his return to Trick on ‘King Of Darkness’, with his spoken word sat atop a filtered acid-tinged bassline and metallic percussion, with spooky synth work contributing to a haunting atmosphere. ‘Please Playboy’ sees Hemsley intersperse lighthearted, interview-style vocals and disco interruptions with constantly evolving sections of thumping techno aesthetics.
‘Shields Possy’ sees Hemsley go for the jugular, deploying relentless drum patterns and bassline modulations alongside twitchy leads while ‘Blotter’ loops hypnotic phrases over a voluminous bassline and banging drums. Taking a turn at the halfway mark, ‘Blotter’ breaks down into a section of ghostly vocals, swiftly coming back with energetic intent.
An imposing EP, Hemsley’s ‘King Of Darkness’ displays a willingness to experiment with new sounds and styles, showcasing the skills of one of the most exciting producers in the genre on a label that is redefining main room sounds.

Two Hot Creations titans will team up with a renowned singer-songwriter next month, as Lee Foss, Detlef and Anabel Englund collaborate on the two-track Thunder & Lightning. Set for release on 20th November, the EP marks the trio’s debut collaboration and sees Lee and Anabel return to the label for the first time in six years.

Thunder & Lightning sets the tone, with hard-hitting drums residing atop a subtle underlying bassline. Anabel’s stunning vocals soon stir up feelings of intensity and resilience, before the infectious kick-hat backbone comes back in to form an emotive, dancefloor cut. I Have Synthed completes proceedings in a manner reminiscent of its title, featuring synth-heavy groove, acid-twinged bass and Anabel’s enigmatic vocals once more.

An eminent figure in Hot Creations’ musical history, USA mainstay Lee Foss has been a figurehead of contemporary house for nearly a decade. In recent times, his Repopulate Mars label has welcomed an array of globally-loved artists including Michael Bibi, Sonny Fodera and more besides, whilst also championing new talent from producers such as Deeper Purpose and Ben Hemsley. House heavyweight Detlef has amassed a worldwide following in a career spanning nearly a decade. A previous Beatport Number 1 record holder for Swagon, this year marked a particularly special milestone with the launch of his own label, Issues. Such a feat simply adds to the Greek-natives illustrious reputation, having cemented his place in electronic music with stunning releases on the likes of Hot Creations, Repopulate Mars, Relief and Moon Harbour to name a few. Anabel Englund has had a huge year with a #1 US dance record for 8 weeks in a row, So Hot (MK & Nightlapse Remix).
