Brooklyn native Victor Calderone has been cranking out house tracks and remixes since the mid-'90s, when his 1996 production "Give It Up" became a club favorite around the globe. Since then he has been in demand, remixing tracks for the biggest names in pop music, including , , , , and the rarely remixed . Calderone is equally busy as a DJ, with residencies at the Roxy in New York and Liquid in Miami. He's issued a number of mix CD's, including E=VC2 (1999) and Resonate (2003).

Pilier de la scène techno de Détroit aux côtés notamment de son compère Jeff Mills, Carl Craig à été bercé dès son enfance au son de Prince, Led Zeppelin ou les Smiths. Ado, il s’intéresse à la musique électronique Intéressé et décide de prendre des cours. Là il rencontre Derrick May, l’un des pionniers de la scène techno Mondiale, à qui il fait écouter ses compositions. Emballé, ce dernier le fait signer sur son propre label : Fragile.

A pillar of the Detroit techno scene, alongside his bandmate Jeff Mills, Carl Craig was immersed in the sounds of Prince, Led Zeppelin, and The Smiths from childhood. As a teenager, he became interested in electronic music and decided to take lessons. There, he met Derrick May, one of the pioneers of the global techno scene, to whom he played his compositions. Enthralled, May signed him to his own label: Fragile.

Un projet aux inspirations Afro-Disco tout de suite adopté et diffusé sur la meuh toujours férue de (bonne) musique venant ou rendant hommage à notre mère patrie l’Afrique!

Sous l’impulsion du label Favorite Recordings et fort de leurs longues années de collaboration dans la réalisation de projets tels que The Dynamics, Mr President, Mr Day, Patchworks Galactic Project, ou encore Taggy Matcher, l’insatiable producteur Lyonnais retourne donc à sa grande spécialité d’origine, le Disco, en lorgnant cette-fois du côté de l’Afrique et des Caraïbes.

En effet dans les années 70-80, le mouvement Funk et Disco fût extrêmement influent dans ces régions, comme l’ont très bien mis en avant certains labels spécialisés depuis quelques années. La France et sa communauté Africaine et Antillaise n’était pas en reste, elle aussi nourricière de nombreuses productions du genre. Dans la plupart des cas, cette combinaison entre la nature festive, parfois clinquante du Disco, et celle instinctive, profonde, parfois rugueuse des musiques Africaines, sonne comme un équilibre parfait.
C’est donc dans l’objectif de retrouver cette énergie et ce grain, que Patchworks entame la production de quelques titres ; Sur fond de rythmiques et basses calibrées dont il a le secret, il habille cette fois le tout de guitares, claviers et cuivres égratignés à coup de pédales et boitiers d’effets vintages et bricolés. Un terrain de jeu plus poussiéreux et moins flamboyant que celui du Disco à paillette traditionnel. Mais qui sied parfaitement au savoir-faire d’un Patchworks au sommet de son art et qui semble s’amuser comme un fou à relever ce nouveau challenge.
Gravitant au sein d’une scène musicale Lyonnaise très dynamique et qui ne manque pas d’artistes aux origines Africaines, il décide, comme souvent par le passé, de s’entourer de chanteurs de la région, quitte à les accompagner sur des sentiers musicaux inhabituels pour eux. Un pari plus que réussi et surprenant d’authenticité, comme en témoignaient récemment ces deux premiers titres aux côtés de Sir Jean et Pat Kalla, tous deux dotés de parcours aussi riches que différents.
Les 10 titres de On te l’avait dit répondent immédiatement aux espérances, enchaînant hit après hit et dévoilant d’autres brillantes collaborations auprès de Renaud Bilombo, Hawa ou encore Fouley Badiaga. Avec cette escapade insolite, Patchworks et Favorite Recordings frappent un grand coup et s’affirment un peu plus si besoin comme les véritables garants de la fidélité de nos dancefloors contemporains, envers l’esprit de leurs mythiques ancêtres… Voilaaa tout !!!

The Music of the Tsonga
The Tsonga are well known for their rich musical heritage which is based on the playing of a wide variety of musical instruments. These can be divided into three categories: stringed, wind and percussion.
The most important stringed instruments include a notched vibrating bow 'xizambi', played by the musician holding the string, usually bark or twine, in his teeth, for resonance; a stick with resonators around it is rubbed up and down the notches of the bow, in time to the music. The xitendze is a bow with a calabash attached to it which acts as a resonator.
The mgangala, still played today, is a hollow reed bow plucked with the fingers, while the xipendana is a wire-stringed bow with a thickened handle plucked with a flat piece of metal. The wind instruments are: a cross flute 'xitiringo' with three holes, shepherd's pipes 'nanga', and an antelope horn trumpet 'mhalamhala'.
Percussion instruments consist of tambourines and drums. A flat round tambourine 'tsomane' is played by diviners to treat people possessed by evil spirits. Drums include ndzumba and xigubu, played at boys' and girls' initiation respectively, and ngoma, used at festive dances.

Two instruments, neither indigenous to the Tsonga, fall outside these categories: a hand piano with eight metal strips, about 10 centimetres - 4 inches long and 1 centimetre - 1/2 inch wide, fixed over a low saddle on a piece of wood, is played by stroking the metal strips; the other is a form of xylophone with a wooden keyboard and calabash resonators.
Tsonga music has changed since it was first recorded in the 1920s. Today it is possibly the most popular crossover music in the country, combining local and imported traditions.

Selon le magazine The Jazz Line, Claptone est en partie responsable du succès de l'album Liquid Spirit de Gregory Porter. L'album a obtenu le disque d'or au Royaume-Uni après la diffusion dans l'émission Essential Mix de BBC Radio 1 du remix du titre éponyme, ce qui a poussé les fans d'électro à écouter le titre original.
Claptone porte un masque doré en forme de bec ainsi que des gants blancs, pour que son identité reste un mystère.

Claptone is a producer and disc jockey from Berlin, Germany.
He became known in 2013 with the publication of the title No Eyes. in collaboration with Jaw from the dOP group.
According to The Jazz Line magazine, Claptone is partly responsible for the success of Gregory Porter's album Liquid Spirit. The album earned Gold in the UK after the remix of the eponymous track was aired on BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix show, prompting electro fans to listen to the original track.
Claptone wears a golden beak-shaped mask and white gloves, to keep her identity a mystery.

Mes influences sont ce que je vais entendre tous les jours, ça peut être le chant du vent autant que celui de Justin Bieber. Tout ce que j’écoute m’inspire et me donne de nouvelles idées. Chaque décennie a eu ses musiciens comme Hendrix, Kraftwerk, Frankie Knuckles, Nirvana, the Wu Tang Clan, Skream ou encore SIA qui ont ouvert des portes et conquit de nouveaux royaumes musicaux pour les déposer à mes pieds. Et ils font cela pour chacun d’entre nous. La musique n’est pas seulement le plus beau des présents à offrir en live, elle réunit aussi les gens, comme disait Madonna.

My influences are what I will hear every day, it can be the song of the wind as much as that of Justin Bieber. Everything I listen to inspires me and gives me new ideas. Andres Campo’s already flourishing career is experiencing a swift and dramatic upturn. Already one of Spain’s most beloved DJs and producers, the DJ Mag Spain cover star is now a worldwide byword for talent, quality and exciting music; both as a DJ, including his Florida 135 residency alongside many international shows, and as a producer, signing to Second State, Intec, Mood, Odd Recordings, Mindshake and RUKUS in the last year alone. 2019 sees him expand his range to record label co-founder, with the launch of his EI8HT label with close friend Eats Everything.

Always boasting an impressive festival resume – Printworks, RESISTANCE, Zurich Street Parade, Tomorrowland, Dockyard Festival ADE, Mysteryland, Summer Story and more, as well as featuring in Space Ibiza’s final year – he also brings his brand of magic to intimate clubs. His sell-out annual all night long sets at the iconic ‘techno cathedral’ Florida 135 in Barcelona, are fabled among his ever-growing cult following. Que faites-vous de votre temps libre ?
Eh bien, après mon travail de jour, je rentre le plus souvent à la maison, m'assoir, me détendre et profiter d'un moment pour soi, à soi… Puis selon l’envie, j'allume le son, internet ou autre… Tranquille. J'aime aussi sortir ‘parfois’ restau, pub, ciné, concert en tout genre, club…  Il m’arrive aussi de recevoir mes potes légèrement intoxiqués de whisky et de bières comme moi… Mais bien sûr, comme n'importe quel autre DJ, beaucoup de mon temps est consacré à cette quête sans fin d'une bonne nouvelle musique. HD

What do you do in your free time?
Well, after my day job, I come home most often, sit down, relax and enjoy a moment for myself ... Then according to the desire... I turn on the sound, internet or other ... Cool. I also like going out 'by faith' eatery, pub, cinema, concert of all kinds, club ... I also happen to receive my friends slightly intoxicated with whiskey and beer like me ... But of course, like any what other DJ, a lot of my time is spent on this endless quest for good new music. HD

Bueno, después de mi trabajo diario, llego a casa con mayor frecuencia, me siento, me relajo y disfruto un momento para mí, para mí ... Luego, según el deseo, enciendo el sonido, internet o otro ... tranquilo. También me gusta salir a veces a restaurantes, pubs, cines, conciertos de todo tipo, clubes ... También recibo a mis amigos un poco intoxicados con whisky y cerveza como yo ... Pero, por supuesto, como cualquier otro DJ, paso mucho tiempo en esta búsqueda interminable de buena música nueva. HD
