As the world raced into the future with technology, Clarence and Roscoe stayed behind. No vehicles, no floor in their house, no modern conveniences like running water or indoor toilet. They were a disappearing breed that doesn't exist anymore.
After appearing on the cover of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils album Men From Earth they were subsequently attacked in their home and left for dead by someone who believed they had been paid a large sum of money for the photo shoot.
I found their commitment to adhering to their simple way of life inspiring and in deep contrast to their fate at the hands of greed and this is what I wanted to reflect in this piece.

Science is not a set of incontrovertible facts be be followed blindly, it is a process of enquiry and the suppression of that process is a tactic of religions, cults and ideologues, not science.

A special thank you to C.J. Hopkins for his insightful satire which has helped me keep the last year in perspective. OK, he's not a scientist but his book 'Zone 23' penned in 2015 eerily parallels much of the authoritarianism that is escalating in the world at the moment.  It was in his early 2020 essays that I first encountered the term 'New Normals' to define those who are willingly embracing these political incursions.

The New Normals

I started fiddling with electronic music back in the mid 80's. One could argue that I should have learnt something about music by now but hey.

I was working for an audio electronics company (Passac) in Sydney that was manufacturing a guitar midi interface (The Sentient 6) and other instruments. 

They had all the latest synths, sequencers, drum machine etc so I would sometimes stay in the factory for whole weekends armed with my trusty Tascam 4 track and Akai sampler.

I also did a lot of live sound work for various bands with styles ranging from Bluegrass (3 Chord Wonders), 40's Swing (Hey Bop A Ree Bop) through to some tough R&B (Headhunters) featuring the awesome Dave Tice on vocals.

As a drummer, I was also playing in many bands throughout the 80's and 90's however that all stopped when I moved to the bush for some peace and quite around 2004. 

More recently I decided to return to the electronic form of audio creation. All my work is experimental in that I never have any particular outcome in mind, I just go where the sounds take me.
