Claude VonStroke, dirtybird’s benevolent label master, presents "Dood", the second single from his upcoming album, ‘Urban Animal’, which will be released September 24.

"Dood" is inherently dirtybird and the one you've been waiting for if you were expecting something nasty from ‘Urban Animal’.  The heart-squeezing booty-bass-line smacks instantly, while the rumbling drawl of the stoned vocal perfectly encapsulates VonStroke’s witty spirit. 

"Dood" is idiosyncratic, eccentric, unpredictable and imaginative, it’s a seriously fun trip aimed squarely at the heart of the dancefloor, and this track has been a peak time hit for VonStroke and the entire dirtybird crew this summer. 

"Urban Animal’ embodies the singular sound that Claude VonStroke and his dirtybird crew have perfected over the last nine years. Touching on all spectrums of house, moving from booty bass to d’n’b, ‘Urban Animal’ is rich and diverse, stoic and playful, tough and tender. VonStroke has pieced together a rugged arrangement of the most discordant, unlikely parts, into something brimming with beauty and human appeal. Much like the single "Dood", 'Urban Animal' is a record wide in scope, yet one that could only have been birthed by VonStroke.

‘T2’ marks the return of Toolroom’s collaboration concept album. 

‘T1’, released back in October 2015, was an album of new and exciting collabs from Toolroom’s roster at the time; celebrating our artists’ talents and challenging them creatively.  

At the height of lockdown in 2020, with our artists in isolation across the world, it felt like a good opportunity to bring back the series - and also help raise money for Covid-19 relief funds, with a percentage of profits going to charity. 

This time, we picked the collaborations totally at random. Drawn out of a hat by Mark Knight on a Facebook Live broadcast, 36 artists were paired up into 18 new studio partnerships.  Pairings like Amine Edge & DANCE and Maxinne; Alex Preston and Siege; Mat.Joe and Ben Remember; and Juliet Sikora and KC Lights, have resulted in the fusion of different styles, influences and ultimately an album of fresh and essential exclusive tracks. 

‘T2’ features 18 brand new tracks, with some out-of-the-box experiments and sure-fire bangers. Testament to the power of creation in isolation, and the unexpected magic of new collaborating artists at the top of their game.

Dutch-Caribbean stars Shermanology debut on Hot Creations with the tremendous three-track Bon Bini EP. The release continues an outstanding 2020 for the brother-sister pairing, which has seen them collaborate with The Martinez Brothers already this year.

The title track, Bon Bini, kicks off proceedings in a no-nonsense fashion, as a pumping lead kick merges with latin-inspired vocal cuts. The lengthy breakdown builds a party atmosphere, as rustling hats provide an up-tempo feel. OK - Cool - Aight feat. ConQuer Jones comes next, with its uplifting piano rolls and wonderful vocal solo courtesy of the lead vocalist who tells us to “make the best of what life has to offer.” Breathe feat. Agent Sasco rounds off the EP. A straight-up club cut, the kick-hat blend is irresistibly danceable, building on an underlying bassline that features Agent Sasco’s whispering lyrics underneath.

Hailing from the beautiful Dutch-Carribean island of Curacao, brother-and-sister duo Shermanology have become one of electronic music’s most well-loved and well-known pairings releasing on the likes of Defected and Dirtybird. This year marked a pivotal milestone in their career as they collaborated with The Martinez Brothers on the incredible Bam Bam. Add to this their soon-to-be-released debut on Hot Creations and it is safe to say Shermanology will be making heads turn, and feet move, for years to come.

The next release on Toolroom Trax comes from Johan S, who made his Trax debut back in June with ‘Don’t Belong Here’ - This time, he teams up with AndMe & Bastian for a 90s inspired tune titled ‘Come Back Home’. 

From the first few seconds of hearing this, you’re welcomed by crisp drums and a solid beat. It has a real authentic 90’s feel to it. Packed with nostalgia and a catchy vocal, it’s a fine release on our underground imprint as we continue to go down this bumpy house route!
