Mr Beatnick is a scholar and a gentleman - a bona fide expert in everything soulful and strange, from jungle to Sun Ra, broken beat to retro drum machines, a very fine DJ indeed, and a general man about London town. In addition, since he turned his hand to four-to-the-floor beats with the majestic "Synthetes" in 2011, he's slyly become one of the best synthetic disco producers in the world. This one had us smiling and swaying in the office on first play, and will sound like pure gold in a party situation.

Experimental glitch techno with a steady 4/4 kick, deep rolling sub-bass, and fragmented, stuttering synth patterns. Robotic textures, granular noise bursts, and irregular rhythmic glitches layered over hypnotic grooves. Dark, futuristic atmosphere with metallic hits, warped effects, and evolving sound design. BPM around 124–128, combining minimal structure with intricate digital chaos for an avant-garde, club-ready vibe.

The 'Metro' EP features three very different tracks that all bear a slightly different sound, however he lead track is a synth-laden masterpiece and one that has to potential to light up a full Panorama Bar.

Expect mesmerising builds, huge progression and enough arms-in-the-air moments to warrant a full body massage shortly after it’s finished. Relentless is an understatement. More amazing stuff from the Ostgut camp.

INFO: There’s no stopping Theus Mago right now. Mexican cosmic groove wizard, Duro bossman all-round G; Mago continues to lay down gold after gold after gold. Hot on the heels of his Correspondant outing comes this deep hypno session on Pets. 
‘Baqa’ takes the lead, hurling us into some deep trance manoeuvres with its voodoo style chant and hunch-backed creepy chord progression. Total drama, done with class; there’s a lot of fun to be had with a track like this. ‘Jingo’ follows suit with another narrative-like atmosphere. Powered with a deep drive, laced with a little electro charm and armed with an elevated twist onto a whole other melodic plane just when you least expect it, this one’s so detailed you’ll find it hard to mix out of. 
Finally we have the brilliantly-titled ‘Rave Dave’. Thundering drums, rising chords, creepy FX and a momentum that locks you in like it’s 1991 all over again, an industrial strength EP deserves an industrial strength finale. Everyone knows a rave Dave – the type of soldier who could dance all weekend and still be fresh for a Monday – well these are the sounds that loop in his mind. Now they’ll loop in yours.

Blaq Numbers welcomes back DJ Psychiatre for the 8th instalment in its Blaq Tapes series. The French producer’s "Introspection EP" boasts 5 cuts of modern and melodic Detroit-leaning House with flashes of early Trance, talkbox Acid and other psychedelia. Big hitters Goddard and Pedr (aka Pierre Moritz) contribute two remixes to the release; the former jumping on the ghostly, soulful breaks of “Sumthin About Luv” while the latter reworks “Falling Endlessly” into a grooving 110bpm roller.

Hotflush is a record label launched by Paul Rose aka Scuba in 2003. Its early period was spent as a central part of London's Bass Music scene which exploded in the mid 2000s, although the label has always been difficult to pigeonhole musically and recent output has focused on Techno and House.
