For nearly three decades, Laurent Garnier has urged himself to create on the cutting edge of dance music. Beyond the turntables and studio, Garnier moves between genres and performance techniques with the aim of continuously challenging himself. Pick any moment from his musical journey, and it's easy to see this creative momentum: there was the Hacienda in the late '80s, his time spent in America exploring house, the techno of his label F Communications and his entry into the realm of jazz. Last summer (2013) Laurent Garnier met with Jerome Derradji over dinner before his long awaited return at the decks in Chicago for SmartBar. Longtime friends, Laurent and Jerome talked about the possibility of releasing some of his new productions under the name Garnier. A new venture for the veteran Dj and producer, that will see him release a series of 12”s for labels such as 50 Weapons and more....

“AF 0490” is the first release in the series and showcases Garnier at his best.
Three tracks that pay their respect to the heroes of Trax, Dancemania and to the Chicago sound they helped create without any misplaced nostalgia.
“Bang (The Underground Doesn’t Stop)” is a dancefloor anthem, magnificent and pure Chicago circa 1998. “Boom (Chakolak)” takes you way back to the Southside with its gritty “footwork” 909 kicks, snares and vocal loops, massive! “Beat (Da BoxX) is a pure Garnier, Dancemania inspired techno monster. The loop is finally complete, Garnier can now hop on flight AF 0490 direct from Paris to Chicago to Bang The Box once more.

After in all 9 EPs and one album the Traum artists Ryan Davis and Microtrauma have joined forces to record a new EP together. 

They're opening track "Harmonia" is a track with a great choice of variables and a skilled and artistic form of shifting and moving them within the track. The result is a loose and unpredictable track which has gigantic, sonic moments. At times it takes out the beat and pulsates along not loosing any of the intensity, the contrary is the case... with each free minded passage the track gains more depth. "Harmonia" is a tremendous piece of hypnotic techno with an gripping arrangement.

"Calendula" starts rather introspective and silent but undergoes an enormous transition which puts it in a league with some of the best gentle pieces of melodic techno around.
It is hard to wrap up in words how the track moves to totally different corners music wise within its eight minute ride but for all of you who know Ryan Davis and Microtrauma you will have expected something like this to happen.

Dubspeeka has remixed "Calendula" in the style of a raw and heavy grinding techno track that is invaded by sounds that come and go in perfectly timed intervals.

"Philomela" rounds up the EP and is night crawler of a track that skillfully works with a broken beat and a carpet of orchestral sounds that later are joined by darker ones to create an overall gloomy atmosphere.

@JackWasFaster makes his debut for @FactorCity with four excellent dance-floor cuts that bridge the currents of slow-mo techno and cosmic disco, a perfect blend of darkness and light.

“Perro viejo” is a 12’ apocalyptic jam built around pulsating beats, an industrial atmosphere, and acid synths.  Italian duo @YoungerThanMe chose this track to remix, condensed it and added extra tension by adding synth stabs and vocal chops. Rave on!

Hotflush is a record label launched by Paul Rose aka Scuba in 2003. Its early period was spent as a central part of London's Bass Music scene which exploded in the mid 2000s, although the label has always been difficult to pigeonhole musically and recent output has focused on Techno and House.
