Scuba drops another four cuts as SCB on Hotflush Recordings this December.

Paul Rose first launched his SCB moniker in 2010, going on to appear on labels like Ostgut Ton, Aus Music and Nonplus until 2014. This year saw the pioneering British producer revisit his darker alias with a dystopian themed release on Hotflush – he now returns with four more twisted and ominous
productions.

Minneapolis-based TML presents the Machine Bias EP, out 16th February on Hotflush. The four track package features a remix from Brooklyn’s Justin Cudmore and brandishes a combination of vintage electro, acid house, and broken drum programming that attempts to draw a line from midwestern raves to UK sound systems.

Munich-based brothers and Blitz Club residents Glaskin return to Hotflush with their third EP on the label,brandishing dizzying, fragmented cuts of techno and breakbeat. The duo debuted on the label back in 2017 with the ‘Debris Disk’ EP.

For the fourth instalment of SCB remix EPs from Hotflush, Mor Elian and Hammer step up for their own interpretations of tracks from Caibu. 

Fever AM label co-founder and hybrid club producer Mor Elian provides a spaced out take on ‘Fish Bowl’ full of angular drums and woozy synths. For his take on ‘Test Tubes’, Hammer formulates a steady groover for the after hours.

SCB - Fish Tubes (SNIPPETS)

Preceding the release of his highly anticipated debut album, Locked Groove presents Do Not Freak, a two-track EP applying his own interpretations to the classic sounds of the Belgian underground. 

‘Do Not Freak’ is a hybrid construction of New Beat and rave, fusing the animated melodies and chopped vocals of the former with entrancing chord stabs. ‘Attack’ is a melancholic swirl of broken beats and frantic synths.

Recondite returns to Hotflush for his fourth release on the label, and his first since 2016. The signature sound of this singular artist is in full effect across this EP, as melancholic melodies intertwine with rough textures and direct percussion. Lawrence Hart & Casually Here return for their third release on Hotflush. Following in the enigmatic and emotive vein of ‘Wanderlust’ and ‘Ochre’, the two new originals presented in this release combine dancefloor sensibility with an emotional intelligence rarely found in the electronic landscape of today. Meanwhile, Model Man deliver a singular remix of previous single ‘Ochre’ in their trademark style.

Back as a solo artist on Hotflush for the first time since 2011, Braille returns with 4 smooth cuts of UK-inflected house and electronica.
One half of Sepalcure (with Machinedrum), Praveen Sharma’s solo project, Braille, has appeared on labels including Ghostly International and Rush Hour, as well as Hotflush. Appearing here with his first solo EP since 2015, Sharma shows his versatility and keen ear for a melody with 4 contrasting additions to his catalogue.

Scuba first linked with Belfast-born Hammer when the hotly tipped
producer remixed SCB’s ‘Test Tubes’ from his ‘Caibu’ album last year. The artist reworked the original into a sleek and pummelling trance-leaning affair. 

Fast forward twelve months and the pair’s contrasting styles make for an engrossing studio collaboration. What began gradually as ideas swapped back and forth between the two producers, germinated into a fully formed collaboration as Hammer joined Scuba in his South London studio to refine and enhance the rolling trio of sketches.

Hotflush is a record label launched by Paul Rose aka Scuba in 2003. Its early period was spent as a central part of London's Bass Music scene which exploded in the mid 2000s, although the label has always been difficult to pigeonhole musically and recent output has focused on Techno and House.
