Around might come as a surprise for many club-heads as Noir usually produces club tracks and is now moving into the electronic songs area. However Around makes the perfect transition for Noir as it refletcs some of his trademark club-sounds mixed with the new melodic and more in-depth electronic sound. This is the 1st single taken from a full-length album coming in 2012 including some of the world's most talented singer/songwriters. On Around Danish Noir teamed up with Malaysian Haze for this heartfelt piece of music. Haze might be best known for his work with people like Sandy Rivera, Nic Fanciulli and Danism and the singer/songwriter proves his talent for creating emotional and melancholic vocals. Together Noir & Haze gave this track what they felt music in general is lacking today: Heart and Soul. This track has the perfect blend of the 80s New Wave sounds, the 90s proper vocal house anthems and today's modern production techniques. This is something different, nothing else out there sound quite like this. Solomun is a genius when it comes to sexy club music. This remix is already rated one of his best to date and perfectly refletcs his flair for the sub-heavy downtempo funk and club-feel. Expect the cool underground clubs to have the Solomun remixes running for the entire summer season 2011. To round the package off we also got some acoustic versions done by Haze for those who like it all stripped down and simple. This would work for those unforgettable pre- and pool-parties around the globe. Dive in and get inspired, enjoy and smile.

True dedication is difficult to find these days, as is motivation when digital media has overthrown old school methods, which makes running a label an even more sinuous mission. Despite a wealth of hurdles that increasingly come with the territory, this hasn’t put an end to people’s desire to push out their own imprints. Moving at its own pace, ten years in the world of dance music come as a century in real life, as dancefloor trends fluctuate. In such a surrounding, creating timeless pieces is essential when maintaining a high calibre establishment. But thanks to platforms such as Soundcloud or the ever-pervasive social media channels, it’s easy to showcase tracks and kick off labels without needing the once coveted record deal. Nevertheless, record labels serve as beacons in a world where we’re inundated by more and more content.
More than just a release platform, labels are indispensable partners in artists’ careers as the one to curate only the best music, accompany it with according designs, as well as bringing in new marketing ideas or even music videos. Shir Khan’s Exploited label has been a true example of such a label, hand-picking new producers to showcase, nurturing them from early beginnings into popular household names.

The next artist stepping up to mix Defected’s coveted In The House series is Melé, a producer whose standout percussive sound and infectious energy behind the decks makes him one of the UK’s most captivating, flourishing DJs. From 13-year-old bedroom DJ growing up in the Wirral to his breakout tribal anthem ‘Ambience’ in 2015, Melé has now fully honed his skills in production and mixing, culminating in two mixes for ‘Defected presents Melé In The House’ and three brand new productions. Two of these original productions are included in this sampler, demonstrating what’s to come from the compilation.

With live percussion from drum warrior Shovell, the cover of ‘Pasilda’ pumps up the track’s unmistakeable rhythms and piano melody (recorded live by prolific record producer Fraser T Smith) with an irresistibly hefty bassline and vocal loops. A long-time highlight of Melé’s sets but until now unreleased, ‘Pasilda’ is an exclusive from the upcoming compilation. The aptly named ‘Brooklyn Bounce’ is Melé’s ode to Danny Tenaglia, a key influence whose sought-after percussive spirit is apparent throughout Melé's work. This sophisticated pumping house cut with plenty of signature layered percussion is the perfect set-up for the anticipated ‘Defected presents Melé In The House’.

Melé & Shovell ‘Pasilda’ (Extended Mix)

David Penn delivers his first collaboration with legendary house vocalist Roland Clark on Defected. Boasting the same infectious groove as his previous outputs on the label, ‘The Power’ makes the perfect antidote to wintertime blues, capturing the uplifting energy of his DJ sets with a record destined to unite all on the dancefloor. As Roland Clark’s delivers his emotive spoken word narrative, David’s rolling bassline and percussive breaks bring his signature brand of soul-laden house. Once again, the pairing of Defected and David Penn proves to be a match made in house heaven, expect to hear ‘The Power’ dominating dancefloors all year long.
