"Waves of Love"

I played at the piano again and again with the keyboard ...
Then, after a long time (3 months) I had this tune finished and arranged ...
I was glad when the piano melody to "Waves of Love" was finally finished  ...
Now I could start playing the strings ....
After listening to the song several times, I started to feel the melodies and I played the flutes, repeating until I was satisfied with the result.
After the flutes, the other instruments were added to the piano melody. These included the violins and the cello ...
It was a great pleasure for me to send it to Colin.

Waves of Love - Oliver Papke and Colin Powell

When Oliver first sent me his version of Waves of Love, he said he wanted it to become an EPIC New Age track, with lots of power. I added several harmony parts that add to the melody and then a bass guitar that comes in later to give some more bottom end.
Then, of course, there are those epic drums that Eva and Oliver (and me!) are so fond of! Plus cymbal crashes for extra epic-ness.
So, Oliver got his wish! A New Age Epic, which was also an epic to mix (26 tracks on my iPad!). But it was great fun to add to, mix and master this wonderful piece of music. We hope you like it too.

It's always amazing what you can come up with ...
This track only motivates us to go further with the music and create more musical compositions.

I like to see every musical project of ours as a journey - a journey from the idea to the final result, where the result itself is not that important. What is important is the journey itself. This piece is one of my favorite on this album, and to name it "Journey" was quite natural as it sounded like a caravan walking across a vast desert. The inspiration for this piece came from Cirque du Soleil - we attended their show a year ago, it was the third time seeing them and that time it was "Alegria". To say that we were impressed is to say nothing. It was an absolutely overwhelming mystical experience. I must say it influenced the entire album. But "Journey" is special in a way as I subconsciously quoted a short motif from "Alegria's" music. A very short motif, just couple notes in the vocal line and I realized that only later.

I hope you will enjoy the music along with this timelapse of the artwork being drawn by the talented Anastasia Frenkel. She drew artworks for every single track of the album - they all are quite amazing! Vibrant, mystical, haunting, surreal - just like we envisioned this album to be. We included all of them in a booklet that goes with the CD. We have a limited lot of CDs and I will happily sign one for you (https://milana.bandcamp.com/album/abracadabra-2).

I must also thank all the participating musicians: 
- Phil DiMercurio (aka PdubJamz) for his drums and percussion truly transformed the album.
- Yamaha Artist Yoed Nir for the wondrous cello.
- Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Alexa Ray for the amazing vocals.
- Producer of several Grammy-nominated artists, Matthew Shell, who supervised mixing & mastering of "Abracadabra!", Erik Fredriksen for mixing and Steven Vagovics for mastering.

And, of course, I'd like to thank my husband who was behind the whole production of the album and the upcoming music video.
