After at least a couple years in the making, we finally intercepted good old Low Bat's transmission for Bamboo Shows. A culinary companion, expert in hay-matured duck, spinash dough, cheddar dashi or even olive-oil confection, and, while we're at it, a great musician (part of trystero, Andermole and Jean-Luc, handyman for Mutant Radio and former Berlin hell-raiser).

True to form, dear Louis provides with a dreamlike trip, via his 'Donkey Ride'. Drop the tab under the big pink, and take this stony cow-path along with him. Under the blazing sun, grass grows faster, emotions feel deeper, and the ordinary drifts far away. One hour of stretched melancholia, folk to lose yourself in the horizon, vivid synthwave and other oddities that gently blur reality.

For the 393rd edition of the Inverted Audio Mix Series, we are thrilled to present an hour-long sonic journey from @edenaurelius. Currently based in New York, Eden’s spent many years immersed in the DIY and club scenes of NYC and Chicago, her previous home before relocating two years ago.

Last year’s debut ‘Pleateau’ was one of our favourite releases of 2024. A potent mixture of ambient and dub techno, ‘Pleateau’ has only gotten better in the spin around the sun since it was released. It hooks you in with its unhurried rhythms that pulse with a vibrant spirit. The album feels like a welcome time out from the anxieties of constant connections and endless news cycles.

Along with recent output by Purelink (who are friends and collaborators), Eden’s work feels like an essential new chapter in the long, winding story of ambient dub. As Summer takes control, we caught up with Eden to talk about her musical beginnings, all time and current favourite albums, and upcoming projects.

Unheimliches Manoeuvre is one of the many nom de guerre of KS a musician and performance artist from Luleå, Sweden. The tracks were recorded in 2009 in his Stockholm home studio under constant threat of eviction from disturbed neighbours.

Recorded in 1991 (I think). This original version was unreleased but a remake appeared on Screen Ceremonies in 1995. The truth is I prefer this rough original - the remake sounds fussy and overworked.

The B2 to the Recast EP featuring Mike Ink, DJ Guy, & Terrestre aka Murcof released 11/09/2017 on Future Primitive.

A second release for London's Future Primitive Records brings to the fore a new hand-picked selection of hard to find - if not overlooked - tracks from Wolfgang Voigt, DJ Guy and Fernando Corona, aka Murcof. All of the music to feature on this four-track Recast EP was previously subject to tape or CD only release.

Lifted from his only album as Love Inc., Wolfgang Voigt's "Income" sits primo as the A1, holding firm 22 years after its original release. Predating Voigt's work as GAS, its caustic chords, shimmering melodies and chilled 85BPM vibe render it a production borne from the classic dub techno blueprint of the early-to-mid '90s. An early take on "slo-mo" techno.

The cassette tapes of DJ Guy have again been raided, with Future Primitive joining a select cast of followers to rejuvenate the Welshman's productions with an edit that appeared on his tape for Crisis Urbana.

Both B-side tracks "Botas De Oro" and "Secondary Inspection Theme" come from Murcof's one-time Terrestre alias, a project from the early-2000s which fuses textural, slow-motion and minimal house sensibilities with Mexican Banda and NorteNo music - aka Nortec, a micro-sub-genre to come out of Tijuana. Loose percussion, swung drums and winding rhythms are made all the more esoteric through the subversively climactic nature of Terrestre's music.

"When crawling to the summit, I saw a person emerge from the mist. A disfigured man in a tattered robe drew two cards from his sleeve and laid them on the slab between us.  'The Magician' and 'The Devil' were pictured in a vibrant color illustration.  As I stared intensely at the cards, the man shuffled over to a faded green jukebox between two ancient pillars. He made a selection and some music began.  It had an eerie, hypnotic quality to it.  Melodies cycled together in a warped assemblage of modes ranging from Anglo folk and basement jazz to some late night Pagan gospel set.  Moments of ethereal beauty blended into nightmare tones and possessed invocations. It suggested a deep mystery and as I listened, the figures on the cards moved and staggered across the rocks. The mist enveloped me and turned violet. When I awoke, I was back at the base of the summit.  Laying next to me were the cards and an LP album that was the music from the green jukebox.  It was called 'Magician/Le Diable' by an artist named White Gourd. I have returned to it over and over again as I light various colored candles in my apartment and muse on the inherent strangeness at play, always and forever."
