London producer Slacker’s rise has been steady.. First announcing himself to the scene with the flurry of wonderful SoundCloud uploads, the producer has since released on Lobster Theremin and his own co-owned Pseudonym Records, winning critical acclaim from publications such as Resident Advisor and Ransom Note, and support from fellow exciting up-and-comers such as Otik (on Midland’s InterGraded label) and tastemakers such as Berlin based selector CCL, and arrives at the perfect moment for the debut release on CYBEREDOME - ahead of a debut LP release scheduled for later this year.

With the fundamentals of his sound in jungle and drum & bass, Twisted Heads arrives as the genesis record on new 1Ø PILLS MATE sub-label Cyberdome, showcasing a mutual exploration into new sounds and listening experience for  both label and artist, and arrives nearly exactly two years since the producers last solo Lobster associated outing - Leviathan - released on the labels LT-UNDR series in May ‘19.

Quickly establishing himself as a core label artist and one of the most well-rounded and exciting artists within the UK, Slacker maintains his rough-edged approach to production, but with a new-found sense of maturity as his sonic palette grows. The title track is a hard cut of malfunctioning electro; frantic, screwface energy designed for small spaces with no windows, while ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ is a brooding, chugging cut of psychedelic dub-techno; something you might have heard Andrew Weatherall or David Holmes playing in the nineties. 

‘Mezcal’ sees the artist venture into newer, faster-paced territories as Slacker incorporates a Chicago juke aesthetic; sensationally bouncy, incredibly fun and captivatingly energetic, with just enough electro flavour for those who lack the ability to footwork to continue to dance. 

Rounding off the release is the most quintessential Slacker track on there - ‘Prototype’ - a cut of acid dipped, in-your-face electro; raw and uncompromising.

Also featuring on the record is digi-only track ‘Sacrifice of the Self’. Twisted Heads will be released by Cyberdome on June 4th.

Lena Platonos is a pioneer of the Greek electronic music scene. Her second solo album, ‘Gallop’, was produced in 1985, and reissued by Dark Entries in 2015. The album was made exclusively using analog synthesizers, and prominently features the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine. Lena narrates each song, reciting her own surreal poetry. Lena says of ‘Gallop’, “It’s a study in the mythology of urban population of the contemporary metropolis and also a gaze into the future life of it.”

We’ve recruited Tel-Aviv's Red Axes to remix four of their favorite tracks from ‘Gallop’. The duo, DJs and producers Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi, were raised on a diet of post-punk, new-wave, and Italo-disco at fogged out warehouse and basement parties. Their own productions and remixes have appeared on labels such as I’m a Cliché, Correspondant, and Hivern Discs. Through their alchemy, “Witches” and “And We Hear "I Love You” have been transformed into solid dancefloor tools, while “No. 9” and “Liqueur Ruby” are submerged in psychedelic mist. The latter features middle eastern rhythms by fellow Tel Aviv musicians The Dirty Lizards.

All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket is a reinterpretation of the original 'Gallop' cover, isolating the photograph of Lena layered on a grid backdrop designed by Eloise Leigh. Each copy includes a two-sided postcard with a manipulated frame from one of Lena’s music videos. “In an era where we are obsessed with nostalgia, Red Axes achieved something against that grain while still paying homage to the underrated greats that came before them.” - Anthem Magazine

Photonz @photonz is the alias of Marco Rodrigues a DJ, producer and driving force of Lisbon's underground scene. For little over a decade now, he's been crafting his own deeply personal style of Portuguese house and techno. As a DJ, Photonz grew a reputation for deep crates and intensely euphoric sets and in 2017, together with Violet (co-founder at his Radio Quantica) and Lisbon's own Rabbit Hole collective, he started the now infamous Mina parties - a monthly, sex-positive, queer and intersectional-feminist techno party aimed at using the dissociative potential of intense raving to create a temporary space of suspension away from patriarchal expectations.
Nuit is Photonz’s debut album and a simultaneous reference the Egyptian Goddess of the Stars or Night. Marco was really swept away by the concept of ‘freedom of form under the night sky’, the accepting embrace of Nuit. Ancestral, but also socially advanced and utopian; a deification of the night time. These ideas manifest themselves as eleven songs spread across two LPs that wax and wane like the moon. Photonz channels early techno, Drexciyan rhythms, balearic & atmospheric house; layering sounds, creating moments. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a royal blue and neon yellow jacket with duality/birth symbolism and trance-hieroglyphs designed by Eloise Leigh. Each copy includes a glow-in-the-dark sticker and a postcard with notes.

Midgar is paying tribute to the Pompeian duo, whose life has been entirely dedicated to music.
