The steady bass-heavy groove and rhythm guitars are leaning in the direction of the soundscape of the 80s while the dark guitar pads and the oriental-like Moog melody are giving the tune a mysterious and exciting twist.

Release Info: 
Turkish-born, Barcelona-based DJ and producer Elif celebrates the launch of her debut label Marginalia today, with the release of the imprint’s eagerly anticipated inaugural offering, Medusa EP. 

Conceived and created as a community to support, nurture and develop the incredible output of the producers whose music forms the backbone of Elif’s DJ sets worldwide, Marginalia’s opening three-track opus features two separate collaborations with hotly-tipped Brazilian producer Althoff and Tel Aviv-based artist Takiru, alongside an original solo offering from label boss Elif.

Marginalia’s inaugural release opens with its blistering title track Medusa; a stunning original mix from Elif herself, which presents all of the hypnotic sensibilities we’ve come to know and love from the Turkish producer’s impeccable output. Laying a foundation of chugging percussion, skittish samples and snarling bass, Medusa unfolds a fantastical patchwork of trippy synth-work, ebbing and flowing between each element to heady effect, as Elif opens up Marginalia’s catalogue in style. 
 
Referencing the wildly imaginative notes and markings made in the margins of books dating back to the 11th Century, the EP’s aptly-titled second offering, Run Wild, sees Elif team up with close friend and fellow Barcelona-based artist Althoff. Championing a sinister, medieval sound palette that’s founded on raw, organic house and melodic techno sentiments, the pair’s inaugural collaboration is a masterclass from the off, and one that fully embraces the label’s sound and ethos. Deliciously fluid and wholly authentic, Run Wild is primed for late-night listening and already looks set to enter into the selections of dance music’s international touring elite. 
 
Last, but by no means least, Elif rounds out Marginalia’s first EP with another debut collaboration, this time with hotly-tipped Israeli producer Takiru; one of the leading artists within Tel-Aviv’s flourishing underground circuit. Their intoxicating vocal cut, WTF, serves as a rapturous leftfield closer that transcends the notion of genres, instead opting for stark ambiguity and originality. Combining the seemingly disparate realms of 80s rock, Italo disco, breakbeat and electronica, the pair’s joint offering produces a daring, yet warmly familiar sound that’s as niche as it is versatile.

SP words :At times the fact that DJs play other people's music tends to fade into the background somewhat. Time to pay them hommage.
In the course of more than 15 years, we have encountered a bunch of impressive artists.
It was and still is their music that has made our sets what they are. Some of them came to play at one or the other of annual GRAND SPORTFEST events.
Some musical connections have even evolved into long-standing friendships.
So the idea of kinking up with these special colleagues to create a compilation came easy and a while ago. And much later, finally here it is!
Eleven of our most cherished guest artists have contributed their own tracks to create this showcase.

Mark Tarmonea (3000Grad/BIACS) and Yannek Maunz (3000Grad/BIACS)met Felix Raphael (Get Physical/Dantze) in March 2019 at Sisyphos Club Berlin and invited him on a spontaneous studio jam session.
"Same" the result of their one-day collaboration not only surprised the three instantly, also artists like Niconé, Matchy, Brascon and Mononoid could not escape the charm of this song and agreed to contribute remixes.
"Same" is a timeless and highly emotional piece of electronic dance music.

Italian duo Armonica has been a project we've discovered a long time ago, so working with the full release with guys is our pleasure and honour.
Their significant productions with Connected Frontline, Stil Vor Talent and Multinotes, as well as the recent remix, done with MoBlack for the legend of afro-beat Fela Kuti, released with Defected, have become the main reasons to love guys' sound.
The main title 'Slave' is powerful and effective banger edging between the melodic influence of laidback Indie Dance vibes and the acid sounds.
We are happy to have Dutch producer Patrice Baumel taking his hands on the remix of 'Slave': going more underground with powerful low-ends work, catchy melodies and the enveloping breakdown, Patrice's version is the undoubted proper floor-worker.
The third 'Ratio' has a profound ground: major synth spots and the melodic elements are unified into the properly performed track.
Enjoy any of the tracks from the release, either all of them; the second will make us happier.
