Barbara and Basic Moves have been sending emails back and forth the last 7 years since she works at Scape Mastering alongside engineer Stefan Betke. She is a super skilled dj with a backpack full of experience and knowledge of club music and beyond. It felt logical to us to send another kind of email that wasn't an order form or payment confirmation. hahaha.

This mix puts both our feet back on the ground. Barbara fluently mixes minimal house and dub techno with a unique groove that feels so timeless and oh so clubbbbbyyy. Thanks a lot for teaching and showing us your way.

What’s in Barbara’s backpack? She started her career in Munich working for Disko-B in the mid nineties and soon became a resident at the green flokati room of the cult venue Ultraschall. In 1998 she left for Berlin to work as a freelance press and radio promoter. Around 1999 she co-found the label ˜scape, together with Stefan Betke aka Pole, creating an open platform for the productions of Kit Clayton, Jan Jelinek, Deadbeat, Pole amongst many others.

Autumn 2009 Barbara Preisinger founded the 12inch vinyl label SLICES OF LIFE which is focused on organic sounding and diverse club music, with releases by Betke, Mike Huckaby, Baaz, John Tejada and The Mole. The label´s founding year also marked the beginning of the event series DEEP IN THE BOX with regular parties at Berlin´s Club der Visionäre, Wilde Renate, Ipse among other places. In September 2015 Barbara Preisinger moved DEEP IN THE BOX to the Globus floor at Berlin´s legendary TRESOR club, where she has been hosting her parties every 2 months since then.

Summer has finally arrived in the city of Brussels and we have the perfect mix to go with the sunrays and the following open’air season. We are in a festive mood and can’t wait to celebrate with you and serve you some of the finest deejays which are currently around.

Our newest contribution is by the up-and-coming DJ Rino, fellow pinguin and planet inhabitant of the Brussels’ underground cosmos. With his smiley and energetic presence, he has been all over the city and deservedly so. Rino’s sets are uplifting & catchy, not leaving anyone behind but making sure everyone gets his prescribed dose of positive vibrations. When Rino takes to the decks, every track is carefully selected & mixed into a preferably long and aspirational set that leaves no dancer unmoved. With his wide and universal understanding of electronic music, he manages to annihilate the boundaries between genres and people, making us connect in a musical present of here and now.

Being one of the leading figures in the nordic islands techno scene for more than three decades, THOR has often and righteously been dubbed as the Godfather of Icelandic Techno. For us the founder of the legendary Thule Records & Æ Recordings delivers an exclusive DJ mix showing a deep house side of his craft, which we absolutely adore and are very happy to share with you! Besides his own Thule Records output, THOR's dub-influenced techno tracks have been released on the Berlin based Sushitech Records, as well as The Double R, Rekids, Connaisseur Recordings, Harthouse and many more. Throughout the years, Thor has had steady amount of releases and remixes coming out and his music has also been heavily featured on various compilations worldwide. His last EP „Decay” came out on Thule Records in 2018 and he is currently working on new material in his new German studio while collaborating with artists such as Roger Gerressen, Matt Thibideau & OHM

Apart from remixing artists such as Bob Marley, Anthony Rother, Sigur Rós, Steve O’Sullivan, Ben Sims, Exos, Eddie Matos (Mateo & Matos), Gus Gus, THOR has also had numerous successful collaborations with artists such as Goldie, Pascal F.E.O.S., Tim Taylor, Exos, Roger Gerressen, Matt Thibideau, Yagya and the Icelandic pop superstar Björk. 

The list of places where THOR has performed at is long, and includes well known clubs around the world. e.g. Berlin's renowned Panoramabar/ Berghain, Heideglühen or Wilde Renate, RexClub in Paris, Heaven in London, Fuse in Brussels, Closer in Kiev to only mention some of his favourite locations in Europe. Being a frequent guest in North America he has graced the decks at New York´s ReSolute, Blkmarket and Flash in Washington DC, as well as Stereo Bar in Montreal and LuandaHouse in Toronto.

Ears Wide Open is my call for you to come wander open-heartedly into the endless realm of beats and melodies I dig, mostly – but not limited to – electronic, No boundaries or preconceptions, just all that music I wanted to share with the world, but I didn’t have the chance yet.

I grew up listening to the radio or better said, the radio grew me musically, infected me with a visceral need to select the music I loved and tape it on cassettes. Later on, I started to buy vinyl and play them to the people at parties. Ears Wide Open triggers a new dimension of what DJing means for me. Tune in and enjoy!

Dear fellaz, please give a warm welcome to Kashawar for the 8th installement of our podcast season. For once, this podcast is a live recording from last summer, at our very favourite summer spot: the legendary Club Der Visionaere.
For years now, Kashawar has been refining his sound, both as a Dj and as a producer. His latest releases on Partisan are a turning point in Sergej's carreer, where we find him attracted to bleepy techno sounds. Likewise, our man has been heavily digging lately, this podcast showcases an immersion among his unnumerable dancefloor burners.
