Sydney based artist Mo Sun makes a Baile, moody Salsa Club beat version of the Eurocentric Alicia single by House of Biscotti. Mo Sun’s Remix’s takes you on a journey. There is a momentum at the beginning which conjures that of a cinematic escape scene through back streets and laneways. The song then flips into the internal mindscape as the protagonist as they drive off into the night. Dark city, weaving highways, flickering lights and low lit car interior. Mo Sun brings in the rich sounds of the Yamaha CS-80 synth from ‘Alicia’ with elegant subtlety and keeps the vocals glitchy and minimal in order to create his own unique version of the track. If Alicia is the main event Mo Sun’s remix is the escape out the back door into another realm.

Good Baby, Bad Baby

Brand new to London-based imprint High Praise is Spanish producer Divorce From New York, one half of the San Sebastian based production duo Reyjavik606. ‘Sausalito’, the new seven track album out on September 2nd, pulls from DVNY’s eclectic influences of Jazz, Soul and Disco to create a sun-drenched album perfect for a barbeque in the park.

A driving, 70s jazz-rock-disco inspired work-out from the Marxist Love Disco Ensemble. ‘Material’ is the second single to be taken from their forthcoming album, ‘MLDE’. Building from the bass-guitar intro, it introduces a Moog, a haunting Arp Solina string machine, live percussion, and layered glazed vocal arrangements, invoking elements of Gino Soccio as it escalates. The song explores aspects of dialectical materialism and revolution, all shrouded in the format of a bonafide club dancer.

House of Biscotti is another project by Melbourne multi-instrumentalist and visual artist Carla Ori. Inspired by club music of the 90’s, designer shoes and strange vocal samples, Ori presents a foray of electronic sounds and uncontained energy.
