We kicked off this year with the Tricky Freak EP by Holt 88, followed by his official sample pack and a remix contest that drew much attention. Good Neighbor's version of Tricky Freak scored the most points out of the bunch for his remix of this already groovy club banger. Screechy's next-level ghetto vibe on Last Night earned him the second-place slot in the competition. Third place went to Leo Oli, a fairly new producer from Brazil who delivered a trippy tech remix of Last Night.

"Club Control marks a new chapter in Jesus Montalvo's artistic evolution, reinforcing his position within contemporary Tech House as a producer focused on functionality, constant groove and total dancefloor control. Released on Crazy Nutz Music, the EP stands as a solid and coherent statement, designed for DJs seeking reliable, stable tools with proven effectiveness in demanding club environments. The lead track, Club Control (Original Mix), establishes a clear narrative from the opening bars, built around progressive rhythmic dominance. The continuous and stable bassline acts as the backbone of the track, maintaining tension without relying on dramatic harmonic changes. This approach reinforces a sense of sustained control, ideal for long sets where hypnotic repetition and flow are essential. Electronic percussion remains present throughout most of the arrangement, with precise hats, restrained snares and drum patterns that push forward without overcrowding the spectrum. Synthesizers appear frequently, adding minimalist textures and a digital atmosphere that strengthens the track's modern identity. Father, label owner, ghost producer for the stars, beer enthusiast and Dutch Oven expert. This guy has it all. This guy is a weapon. This guy is Jeff Doubleu.

Jeff's music has been in our sets for over a decade. From his big collaborations with Hijack to his latest remix for Tchami and Malaa which blended Dutch House into the tech-house scene. I think if you asked him to mix dirt and milk together he could make it taste good. Not only this but being one of the founding fathers and still A&R manager at the label, he has his ear to the pulse and this new EP showcases exactly that.

The A-side 'Tell Me' is a deep brooding chugger with just enough snare fills to please any Chicago chin stroker. On the flip we see the Jeff collaborating with mystery producer Kimba with a boompty dutch cross over. We can smell the word Fidget being thrown around for this one. Lastly, we have 'The Thrill' which turns it up the heat to round out the EP with something for everyone. 

No matter how you pronounce it, whether its Jeff Double U, Jeff De Blau, Jeff Da Blue, nothing gets past the guys skills to produce chunky ass house music.
