Can You Dance To My Beat?

This is my first pure house mix. 

Completely impressed by Honey Dijon's live set, I came back from Ibiza in May with a strong urge to do a house mix. Up until this point in my rookie soundcloud career, I had uploaded two of my mixes (1 Bar Grooves & 1 Disco Edits) to soundcloud. Both mixes were far more successful than I could have ever imagined for my beginnings! This makes me happy and proud at the same time, although my transitions are really not flawless yet ;).   #practicenpray

However, if you ask me which beats leave me breathless, it's the house ones. Thus, I dared to this baby here, always in the strong learning process. 

This baby boy has been waiting for his born day for a while, so it's time to let him shine. Or maybe it's a girl? You tell me! :D

The House Of Jay-Kay Pt. I

In this mix I wanted to combine Italian and French disco with disco from the English-speaking world. 

I am very aware that this is a bold move for a mix, as UK and US disco have always been very prominent. In my opinion, however, French, Italian and German (and for sure other countries) productions are indispensable in the disco world and have contributed significantly to the further development of the music genre, especially in the electronic field!

In the first place I make music out of my own entertainment and also of course only such, which pleases ME. :) However, I'm such a happy Jay-Kay when my mixes also please other people.

As the daughter of an absolute music fanatic, I came into contact with music before I could even speak. As a kindergarten child, I already knew the difference between 33 and 45 rpm. At home we listened to music all day long. Since I was born in the mid-70s and my father loved everything that was danceable, disco was a big topic with us. That was also the reason why I swept the dance floor in the early 90s to 70s music.

On December 2nd 2023 hubby @dj-bk-du and I went live on NDC Radio for the first time with "The Couple Show". This show is a completely new experience for us, as we have always pre-recorded our radio shows and have never had a show together before. 

Broadcasting live is a next level experience, you work with completely different standards. The fact that we are still quite new in this area can be heard here and there in our show. We had a few technical problems at the beginning, had to get used to the microphone level and so on.

This mix is my DJ set from the Couple Show with DJ BK from 09.03.24 on NDC Radio.

I played this DJ set the day before, on International Women's Day, at my first event ‘Women for Women’. The concept of the event revolves around solidarity among women and strengthening women's power in my hometown of Duisburg.

The next event organised "Women for Women" will take place on 09.11.24 in a car dealership run by 2 sisters who particularly promote sales advice for women at eye level.

There was a lot of glitter and glam and what fits better than Disco & House? The shop was full of wonderful women. As well as shopping, there was also dancing and chatting.

Jay-Kay has been a music addict and vinyl collector from her early teens. Mentored by her husband @dj-bk-du ,she got into DJing in 2022 with great success and plenty of SoundCloud klicks on her mixes. Jasmin aka Jay-Kay is also a member of the Disco Waltons family. Her musical style is diversified, ranging from disco to house to balearic and back again.
Together with her hubby, she broadcasts the 2-hour "Couple Show" on NDC Radio every 2nd Saturday.
She is also the founder of the party event "Women for Women" and supports her husband BK at his "Sunset Disco" events.
