I could type on for hours about the respect and admiration that is shared between myself and Caspa. We've grown as friends, and as individuals and through our entire relationship, there was always a general theme that kept showing up in our chats. It was genuine belief in the other party. Having someone in your corner who believes in you is invaluable, and that's why he and I have latched on so tightly to our friendship. 

But enough gushy stuff (lol) lets highlight this freak of a DJ real quick. DJ Caspa is one of the most highly respected Underground DJs. Full Stop. The guys a freakin legend, but that title didn't come easy, and it definitely wasn't bought through an algorithm. Since the late 80's early 90's, Caspa has been a cornerstone for the house community. His respect in the scene was earned from constant support of other artists (big inspiration for me!) and always pushing the new guys who deserved the recognition. Without Caspa, there would have never been a Selected Timbres series, and I'm not even sure I would be so heavily involved in the scene. So if you've ever received my support, you can give him a thank you too lol.

This mix has been in the works for over a year. We both knew there was going to be a guest mix from Caspa, but (as always) he wanted me to start this up on my own with my own guests that I've got in my back pocket. BUT.. here we are :) one year later and DJ Caspa is lucky number 13 in the series!

Jo Paciello is an Italian Artist, Dj and Producer.

In May 2016 his release "Son of a Motherfunker", a huge ep containing pure smashing hits. The success of this album gaves to Jo Paciello the position n.2 in the Traxsource's Top 100 Jackin House chart for over 3 weeks, with the homonym single "Son of a Motherfunker," who was included in the 2016 - Traxsoucer's best song.

Jo Paciello was appointed as Traxsource #44th Best Jackin House Artist for 2018. In this Year he collaborates with Enrico BSJ Ferrari founder of The Black Legend who released in the 90's the world hit "You see the trouble with me" - and both release Watching You for Juiced Music. The song, goes straight at the n.1 in the jackin house chart and was supported by many artists such as Joey Chicago, Dj Colette and Dj Randall Smooth, becoming for Traxsource the #18 best song of 2018.

Inspired by Daft Punk and Saint Germain, Jo Paciello tries to consolidate his style, that he named Jazz House!

In 2019 he released 'Jack N.4' on Moonrocket Music, a #1 hit with jazzy piano and some truly tight drums. He was appointed as Traxsource Best Jackin House Artist for 3 years in a row standing in the top 10.(2019, 2020, 2021) and was appointed as #62 Best Traxsource Artist of 2022 among over 500 other artists on a selection of 700.000!

LawnChair Generals and East Coast Boogiemen took a two month tour in a Town and Country Van across America in the Early 2000's.  This piece of audio was recorded in Kansas City capturing all 4 individuals weaving in and out of each other on 4 decks.  This was before automated DJing was invented, everything is on wax and on the wheels of steel.  Enjoy.

Every tune I put in my sets & mixes, I take a lil extra time & save the tracklist to post. I usually send a little message to the artist and/or labels to show my support & thank them as well for providing me with such amazing music to spin.

About Large Music:
Large Music was the brainchild of Windy City resident Jeff Craven, who was worried that house music was in danger of being sidelined in its own birthplace, the international spotlight that had once shone on the pioneering Trax and DJ International imprints having moved on to New York labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Nervous and 8-Ball. “I thought a label with that kind of energy and underground profile could work in Chicago,” says Jeff. So, pooling funds with a friend, he began finding talent and pressing records. Kerri Chandler’s ‘Raw Grooves EP’ became the label’s breakout release, and Large Music hasn’t looked back since. In fact, far from looking back, Large is a record label that’s always been about looking forward. In the 90s, their catalog featured the likes of DJ Sneak, Mateo & Matos and Dennis Ferrer when they were right at the start of their careers, not to mention providing a then-nascent UK garage scene with one of its most enduring anthems in the form of Roy Davis Jr’s ‘Gabriel’.

In the 2000’s, the Chicago-based label was quick to pick up on the deep and soulful house coming from the West Coast, releasing material from the likes of Halo, Jay-J, Rasoul, Miguel Migs and Julius Papp. During the Deep House revival of 2013 Jeff embraced a flurry of young producers who emerged out of Europe, with releases from the likes of Roland Nights, Evan Iff, James Dexter and Matthias Vogt. Yet while fashions fluctuate and music mutates, one thing that hasn’t changed is the Large A&R policy. It’s simple: “My formula has always been to release music that I was really into and what I would play as a DJ,” says Jeff. “I’m still just as excited about house music as I was in 1992.” Which probably explains how Large has been able to stay relevant all these years, this is one veteran label that isn’t content to endlessly rehash former glories, but who instead keeps searching out new underground talent.

They set out to ensure that house music didn’t get sidelined in Chicago in the 90’s. What they’ve actually achieved is to push house forward all over the world for 26 years and counting.
