We're going a little off piste with something new on SB this week... We welcome returning mad scientist Scruscru with his buddy Mike Fot who came to us with the beginnings of a weird and wonderful new off shoot series called Spliff Jamz. 

Following a series of visits to Moscow between 2018 and 2020 to play at Powerhouse club, Scruscru would swing by Mike Fot’s apartment for a smoke and a jam session, working with a variety of Roland and Korg gear late into the night. The results of these sessions have led to a series of EPs; with the first four tracks ready for your ears right now.

Per Hammar’s @dirtyhandsrec imprint delivers the debut long player, ‘Echoes Of A Galaxy’, from @pascal-benjamin this June, comprising twelve original compositions from the Dutch artist. 

Hailing from the Netherlands capital city of Amsterdam, producer and DJ Pascal Benjamin has been releasing his twist on raw, swinging, stripped-back House music since 2016 via the likes of SlapFunk, Eastenderz, Constant Sound and Yoyaku’s Aku among others. Here though he marks a milestone in his career with the unveiling of his inaugural album, coming via Malmö, Sweden-based artist Per Hammar’s Dirty Hands imprint.

For Sooo WET’s ninth release, they welcome back Honeydripper with a twotracker packed with soulful, sexy, swung rhythms.

On the B-side we find ‘Be Transformed’, upping the energy levels slightly with a more house focused groove that partners perfectly alongside a walking bass that rises and falls along the journey. A jazzy repetitive chord loop whisks you away to a smokey Parisian club, accompanied by muffled vocals that make for a fine listening experience.

Fouk - Paahdy [24 Carrot]

From the @outplay camp comes Fouk’s new sub label 24 Carrot.  It’s for all the ‘other’ tracks, the bits that don’t necessarily fit on a regular Outplay EP.

Whether it’s an edit, a loose pumping house track, or just straight up weird stuff, 24 Carrot is whatever takes their fancy really.

 24 Carrot #1 is a collection of tracks from Outplay’s very own @junktion and Fouk..

On the A-side Junktion comes at you with “The Search”.  It’s an uplifting piano vocal disco tune which will be sure to move those dancing feet move.

 

The flipside is Fouk’s turf.  “That’s Pretty Vague” amps it up as a groovy bass line house track broken with toughened up synths. The tongue in cheek vocals lighten the mood, while staying pretty vague.

Closing out the EP is “Paahdy”, which says it all.  It’s straight up house with nods to Chicago, which is perfect for a damn good paahdy.
