Yoshi dove into the world of dance music by starting to DJ in 1991. From then on, he went on work as the house music buyer and sales clerk at the renowned record store in Shibuya, Dance Music Records, selling not only the hottest NY deep house but also introducing rather early in Japan, the then, up and coming house sounds coming out of the U.K. and Europe to the top DJs in Japan.

In 1997, he decided to expand his horizons and actually produce music and joined one of Japan’s premier dance music record label, Flower Records, headed by Eitetsu Takamiya a.k.a. Little Big Bee, where he acted as their A&R, promotions head and sales chief. This might be where many started hearing his name. As Flower Records’ main guy, he steadily promoted their incredible stew of domestic acts such as Su Paka Pooh, Little Big Bee, Jazztronik amongst others, to the level that it is universally known now for. To note, around the same period, with the recommendation by DJ Cosmo, he began writing disc reviews periodically at The Loft, David Mancuso’s website column, ear candy where his eloquent taste of dance music became quite renowned throughout the world.

In 2003, he went independent and started doing an assorted variety of work in the dance music field such as promoting domestic and international labels and artists in Japan such as Franck Roger, Raphael Sebbag of UFO, Kenichiro Nishihara amongst others, license coordination and bookings. From 2005, he began promoting the French label, Kitsune and helped to establish their presence and popularity in Japan.

In 2010, he set up his own record label, UNKNOWN season. A label that releases credible, electronic, house, tech-house ambient tracks produced by up and coming as well as established, high quality Japanese creators to the world. With Yoshi’s trustworthy taste in music and knowledge of nurturing acts, this label’s quality has not gone unnoticed and has received regular praise and confidence by some of the top DJs such as Jimpster, Laurent Garnier, Brothers Vibe, Guy J, DJ Sneak and James Holden who heavily played Gonno’s remix of Ryoma Takemasa’s track, Deepn.

He also regularly hosts a mix show called “UNKNOWN season Radio Show” at West Radio in Greece (www.westradio.gr) which is aired every last Sat., 7:00 AM (Japan time/ 6:00 AM Summer Time) so tune in to his and his crew’s delightful sounds.

His recent release of original producing was "Fallin' House" with Break 3000(Dirt Crew) from V.A. "Deep Love 3" out of Dirt Crew Recordings 2013 Aug.
And also remix of Werner Niedermeier & Gareth Whitehead’s track, Blaq (Yoshi Horino Remix) out of WiN Recordings was given the heads up by Dirt Crew, Silicone Soul, Pig & Dan, Luciano, Bookashade, Sasse, amongst others.

Currently, he is busy producing, running his label and DJing regularly to help spread the auspicious sounds and vibes coming out of Japan, via UNKNOWN season.
Therefore, he is focusing again now in DJing more and is planning an Asian and European Tour in the near future.

Born in Tokyo, raised in South London – FU brings her cross genre curated sets to pilot every step on the dance-floor. Though heavily immersed in the world of Chicago, NY & Detroit house, influences of UK can be heard.
Resident of QUE RICO & Eureka! parties in Tokyo, FU also holds monthly residency on Tsubaki FM (JP), as well as Foundation FM (UK).
Playing internationally in MEX and PHL, FU showcases her capability, as she continues to hone her skills while playing alongside top tier producer/DJs like OSUNLADE, Mano le Tough, Zombies in Miami, Jitwam, Ash Lauryn, CHIDA and Hugo LX.

FU & her love affair with music started in hip hop and soul, but gradually discovered electronic music with passion and curiosity.
Self-taught DJ since 2020 FU has played at well-known venues of Japan like VENT, WOMB, Circus Tokyo, SOUND MUSEUM VISION and many underground clubs of Tokyo. FU's experiences Playing alongside international DJs allows her to explore into different sounds, but collectively making it her own. FU has also played internationally in Mexico City, Indonesia and the Philippines. Not to mention brand tie ups with Maison Kitsune, Vueve Cliquot, TUDOR, and INTIMISSI.
FU’s recent project ’Sunday FUnday’ is a monthly radio show aired on tsubaki FM. She aims to create and expand the music community of Japan by showcasing her favourite tunes, but also having artists and creatives as guests to spark interesting conversations by tapping into many relatable topics.
FU will also holds a monthly residency in digital radio platform
from the UK, called Foundation FM.

After coming into his element in recent years, Berlin based The Checkup looks to broaden his horizons even further in the coming period. Raphael has become synonymous with energetic house sounds of old and new, maintaining a soulful outlook as he meanders between animated productions, and positive storytelling with his DJ sets, both of which he has received global acknowledgement for.
Whilst traveling around the world he finds himself on a never ending search for rare 90s house records, occupying the dustiest corners of record shops to uncover gems of the past. 2022 was notably the finest year to date for the vinyl enthusiast, he toured South America, played in European hotspots London, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid and Tbilisi and landed frequent action in Berlin at the likes of Sisyphos, Watergate, About Blank and Wilde Renate, the home of the Paradise Garage Hommage parties where he holds a residency, and assists with the bookings. His dynamic US house influenced sound has also seen him showcase his music on the legendary Nervous Records, Large Music, Madhouse, Toy Tonics and Meta to name a few. Bucket list material for the continuously rising French talent, flourishing at an alarming rate.

Whilst balancing all of the above The Checkup continues to propel stellar sounds on his own Heattraxx, a project which has seen him sign the likes of Demuir, Elisa Elisa and Demarkus Lewis, a sought after label collaborating with some of the finest names in house music on a regular occurrence. On a day to day basis he holds down the fort at Beatport as the House curator, a nod of approval for his impeccable taste within the genre, and closely related vibes.

It is to no surprise that in recent years The Checkup has received love and support from some of the most inspiring artists within the scene time and time again. A few artists who recognize the realness are Archie Hamilton, Jamie Jones, Kerri Chandler, Alinka, Ben Rau, Riva Starr, Mark Broom and Honey Dijon, a mixed bag of support marking the true versatility of his productions and personality in the booth, with some of his productions gracing the likes of the Panorama Bar dance floor.

The upward trajectory continues and his grips are firmly tightened on even more prolific years ahead!
