The Ride Home

Sounds Over Seas is ready to release its very first LP by label founder Julian Bainbridge. The album covers aspects of the Deep House genre in its classic definition, pushing certain boundaries, whilst maintaining the spirit of the genre through feeling and utilising melodies and rhythm to evoke emotions which go beyond the dance floor. Keeping it raw throughout the nine tracks, each one incorporates different elements of the music spectrum. Implementing jazzy tweaks, minimalistic rhythms, haunting melodies as well as ambience and globals sounds in a full dancing and listening experience.

Longstanding providers of quality Beatservice Records, hail from Tromsø on the edge of the Artic Circle.  Far away from outside influences, so cool they even made a film about it THE NORTHERN DISCO LIGHTS. This Norwegian cornerstone label are back this fall with a fifteen track compilation! They’ve been about for 25 years, releasing music by local artists like Third Attempt, Lakehouse, Jarle Braathen, Kohib and Flunk all with the potential to be the next Bjorn Torske, Todd Terje or Lindstrom.  ‘BSRMXO1’ is a compilation of reworks plus some unreleased gems. It’s a journey across brightly hued disco and laid-back filtered house terrains, sure to steer you away from the daily hubbub.

Over the last four weeks you will have already seen/heard from me Third Attempts deep house wonder, ‘Transit’, the tribal-infused, acid driven analogue weapon Lakehouse ‘Folkesmusikk’, the hi-energy cosmic disco of ‘Melk I Barten (Kellini Remix)’ by Jarle Braathan, and for those who have a penchant for the analogue savagery of Acid, you’ll have picked up on Schnodig’s ‘Never I En Bunt’.

The ones to focus on this time are Doc L Junior’s (Full Pupp, Music For Freaks) immersively dreamy and dynamic take on The Familiar’s ‘White Poison’, Vinny Villbass ‘Money Maker (Queens Lead Hat Mix Sloth UK) will have you thinking about the dancefloor, and so will Terje Saether’s spooky house dub version of 'Normal Eyes’ with it’s squelching acid lines.  Make sure you check the straight-out infectious nu-disco vibe of Reggie Got Beats’ rework of Kohibs’s ’So Good’ will ease you into a world of earthly delights that, despite being grown in the cold North, feel and sound as though blessed with the warmth of an unreal musical oasis!
