Dutch producer @yannickroberts pops up on @freerangerecords fresh from his rather brilliant 'Staying Sane EP' on S3A which we covered last year. Featuring four tracks of Deep and Detroit-esque house music this EP is another huge step forward for Yannick, delivering a fully formed and lush club sound. 

Our premier from the EP today is 'Femme Fatale', deep throbbing basement music at it's finest. Hypnotic and euphoric synths, superb drum programming and pumping bass all combine for what is a rather spectacular dancefloor moment.

Wukah makes his debut on Dealt With Records with his latest piece of work, the jazzy, deep-house, ‘Fred Hampton EP’.

Wukah’s new EP features two tracks; ‘Fred Hampton’ and ‘Chicago 7’. The EP is prolific with a dark and cinematic atmosphere - including vocal excerpts from over 50 years ago, this transportive work also includes an energy and impetus derived from the his lo-fi, dusty house rhythms. With a penchant for including jazz influences throughout his music, a likeness can be heard akin to the works of Laurence Guy or a young Leon Vynehall.

Utilising his inherent talents as an educator, film composer and music producer, this body of music highlights a particularly poignant moment in history. A highly emotionally charged place in time, the civil rights era, Wukah tells two stories that are thematically linked with the emotive ‘Fred Hampton EP’ that if not known already, will hopefully enlighten these stories for future generations.

'Fred Hampton'

The track begins with a lo-fi house beat with bongos and a tapping hi-hat, a vocal sample from a TED talk explains the assassination of Hampton which is absolved by the jazzy, Rhodes keys which slowly come into your aural periphery. A complimentative saxophone solo, sounding almost manic at times, translates the insanity of the untimely ending of Hampton’s young life. Wukah’s understated sub bass combining with his lo-fi, yet heavy beat, ensures a chilled but grooving house track. His bubbling electronica sound in the latter half adds some modernism to a most thoughtful, jazzy-house music production.

'Chicago 7'

A beautifully simple jazz piano sample floats into existence from behind an energy-laden dusty beat with a shimmering symbol and deep sub-bass. A syncopated hand clap and reverb vocals make way for a dream like and wavy synth before the lead piano hook returns. Add into that saxophone solos interspersed throughout, sliced vocals and real audio lifted from news reports of the trial of the Chicago 7, Wukah has produced a poignant and thought-provoking house track.

He's the founder of Cognitiva Records and has a monthly residency on the ever-growing Universal Rhythms. His sounds can be found on Banoffee Pies Records, Yam, Ini Movement, Tusk Wax, Broken District, Omena, and Anma. Up and coming Italo talent XL Regular hails from Rome, and operates with the dancer firmly in mind. He's been making a name for himself by skilfully mixing and cleverly blending a myriad of elements of jazz, hip hop, and jungle, all squeezed into broken beat. Together Piero Paolinelli and Alessandro Giacchi have released previously on Omena, ANMA, Cognitiva, INI Movement, Nómada and Monologues.
