해 뜨기 전의 바다처럼,
아직 이름도 색도 없는 ‘마음’이 있었다.

츠바사.
오랫동안 그는 자신의 마음이 어디에도 날아가지 못한다고 느꼈다.

매일 밤, 그는 같은 꿈을 꾸었다.
깊은 물의 바닥.
목소리를 내려고 해도, 거품이 되어 사라져 버렸다.

그러나 어느 날 밤, 꿈이 달라졌다.

흔들리는 수면 너머에 누군가가 있었다.
그 사람은 아무 말도 하지 않고, 그저 손을 내밀었다.

빛의 띠로 감싸인 손.
그리고 그의 가슴 속에는 단 하나의 메아리만 남았다.

“말이 없다면, 형태로 전해 보아라.”

잠에서 깨어난 츠바사는
그 아침 스케치북을 열고,
떨리는 손으로 연필을 움켜쥐었다.

빛의 스케치

이번 페어 테스트는
말을 쓰지 않고 ‘마음을 그리는’ 연습이었다.

츠바사의 파트너는 미유,
표정이 풍부하고 밝은 소녀였다.

처음에 미유는 불안해했다.
츠바사는 늘 조용했고,
그의 ‘마음의 색’을 읽을 수 없었기 때문이다.

그러나 츠바사는 망설이며 붓을 움직였다.

처음 나타난 것은 검은 바다.
그 위에 하나의 흰 선.
흔들리는 수면.
그리고 작게 내밀어진 손.

꿈속에서 그를 구하려 했던 ‘빛의 손’이었다.

미유의 눈빛이 부드럽게 흔들렸다.
그리고 그녀는 자신의 스케치에
조용히 ‘다른 한 손’을 그려 넣었다.

마치 츠바사의 그림 속에
자신이 ‘곁에 있는’ 듯이.

침묵이 흘렀다.
하지만 그 침묵은 두렵지 않았다.

두 사람의 마음은, 말이 필요 없는 영역에서 서로 닿았다.

엘리시아 스코어가 조용히 상승했다.
그리고 그것이 90%를 넘는 순간—

빛이 부드럽게 흔들렸다.

츠바사의 등에, 희미한 날개의 윤곽이 떠올랐다.
그 빛은 목소리도 소리도 없이,
그저 조용히 *“전해졌다”*고 말하고 있었다.

미유는 숨을 삼켰다.

“…츠바사, 네 바다가 열렸구나.”

츠바사는 희미하게 미소 지었다.
그의 눈은 전보다 더 깊고 맑아져 있었고,
‘전해졌다’는 확신을 분명히 품고 있었다.

오랫동안 마음의 바닥에 가라앉아 있던,
‘목소리 되지 못한 생각.’

그것이
손으로 그려지고, 형태로 내어졌을 때,
사람은 처음으로 자신의 바다를 가지게 되는지도 모른다.

침묵 속에서 츠바사가 전한 빛은
미유의 마음도 조용히 비추었다.

그날 방과 후.
운동장에서 하늘을 올려다본 학생들의 등에,
작고 연약한 빛의 날개가 떠올랐다.

그것은 아직 불완전했고,
곧 사라질 듯 희미했다.

그러나—
그 어떤 날개도
누군가에게 ‘강요된’ 것이 아니었다.

각자가 자신의 마음으로 그려낸,
첫 번째 ‘자신만의 날갯짓’이었다.
