Q:  Let's get into the mood for your mix. Why did you select these tracks and what do they still mean to you today?

A: I had such a good time listening to the tracks from my youth. It brought all the memories of all the emotions I used to have. To be honest, when I first got this project I didn't know how to start it because I was not an electronic music geek. Therefore, I decided to show my emotional base. I was an emotionally very sensitive teenager. Loved dark music (as you will listen to) and enjoyed crying while listening to music. I preferred listing to music more than talking with other people. I always tried to be alone and also played lots of computer games. It's a shame I wasn't based on electronic music, but on the other hand, it helped me to get a unique style.

Q: Where did you spend the past 2 years of pandemic and how did you reflect this time for yourself?

A: I went back to my home country, Korea. Spent quality family time. I finished a lot of new projects, worked out hard, and cooked every day. Actually, I kinda enjoyed my life during the pandemic. I grew up musically and also fulfilled family love.

Q: Which new projects are on the way? 

A: In September, A remix for my dear friend Curses will be out via Dischi Autunno, and One EP with my 3 original tracks via Permanent Vacation will be released.

3 QUESTIONS to CAPTAIN MUSTACHE:

Q: How did you get infected with Electronic Music?

A: From an early age, I was fascinated by the synthesizers of Jean-Michel Jarre, then the global Dance music. But everything really started when I heard "Phosphene" by Drax (Thomas P. Heckmann) on MTV, a night in 1994. It was a mix by Laurent Garnier with psychedelic visuals by V-Form from a VHS called "Afters". I was 13. At that specific moment, I fell in love with Techno music.

Q: Would you still play and mix some of these classics in your sets?

A: Of course. "Davina - Don't You Want It" produced by Mad Mike from Underground Resistance is probably my all-time favorite track. And I just released a song with her in my "Indigo Memories" album on John Digweed's label Bedrock, that's insane. "Jupiter Jazz" is also timeless on a dancefloor. I often play the Dexter remix of "Emerge", crazy good production. And also "ADULT. - Hand To Phone", the emotion is still intact.

Q: Which future CM projects are on the way - so: What can we expect from you next?

A: I have a lot of releases coming, a total of 14 in 2022.
- Now an EP of my album "Indigo Memories" remixed by Kiko, Zoo Brazil, Marc DePulse and speaKwave (aka dynArec)
- then a remix on Australian label Motorik
- a 12" release featuring The Advent on Les Yeux Orange, with remixes by DMX Krew and Legowelt
- a track on Marc Romboy's label Systematic
- a release with Popof on label Exploited
- a remix on Correspondant in collab with Jennifer Cardini
And in 2023, a full LP on a great big label.

• What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?
 
We have a very varied musical background. 
Chris was in metal and hardcore bands growing up while Vegard was deep into the Amiga demoscene making electronic music from a very young age.
We have both been DJs and collected records since the mid 90s and have played every genre under the sun, so our influences can really be almost anything! 
 
 • What makes good "afterhour"?
The location and the crowd is everything. The music is of course very important but with the right friends or crowd to create a great vibe almost anything can work musically. 

 • Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

The set was recorded live on a Tuesday night in Oslo at the club Jaeger. It was recorded in the pandemic with social distancing so everyone was seated which was quite bizarre. 
 
 • What was your experience of the set you recorded?

Musically the 2 hours go from almost ambient through disco, deep house and more bangers towards the end. It was a kind of anything goes set which are our favourite way of DJing.

It's not about mixing the current charts - it's about your roots. A storyteller. Music from your childhood and youth that once had a big impact on your later doings, showing musicially how you got in touch with Electronic Music back in the days.

"Techno is a huge family. These are my experiences when I'm coming to different cities and places every weekend. Doesn't matter who you are and where you're coming from.
