We fell for Datashader – the mysterious new signing to Tresor – the moment we heard their six track ‘Digital Entropy’ EP, with its combination of caustic electro, tough techno and breakbeat japes. So when the enigmatic entity offered to do a In The Mix session for us, we naturally jumped at the chance.  The results... well, they span from Sub Sub and Gary Numan to Eprom, AFX and Autechre and much, much more…

After starting the mini Dekmantel Selectors podcast series last year, we couldn’t resist continuing it with artists from this year's line-up. In the next couple of months, we will release 5 podcasts by some of our favourite artists. This year’s podcast theme is all about 'another side of me', wherein the artists show another side of theirselves.

Next up is Rotterdam legend David Vunk. His motto? 'Life is live'. His records? Somewhere in between electronics, disco, techno and italo, as long as it has the 'vunk'. His labels? Moustache Records and Moustache Techno, featuring Gesloten Cirkel, Mr. Pauli, Fred Ventura and many other underground stalwarts. 

His mix for us shows another side of him, wherein he plays the records that he mostly doesn't play for big crowds. "I'm a straight-up tough Rotterdam based DJ, but I can be a sweatheart as well. In clubs, I mostly play eclectic stuff but this mix - which is recorded live at home - shows another side of me. It’s the stuff I play at home and is even more eclectic than you’re probably used to hear from me. Live free style mixing, recorded in one take.”

Between 2012 and 2015 I was honored to be one of the core artists of ASC's groundbreaking Auxiliary label. The EPs and individual tracks I released on Auxiliary (and its sublabels, Veil and Auxiliary Transmissions) mined an artistic moment that I remain very proud of.

In April 2019, 22a boss and multi-instrumentalist, Tenderlonious embarked on a trip to Pakistan to work with Lahore based instrumental quartet, Jaubi. 22a presents the full suite of improvised ragas from a one day recording session in Lahore, Pakistan. The pure sounds of Indian and Pakistani classical music act as a framework for deep and spiritual improvisations between Tenderlonious on flute & soprano saxophone and Jaubi band members, Kashif Ali Dhani on tabla and vocals, Zohaib Hassan Khan on sarangi and Ali Riaz Baqar on guitar.
