So I made this in about 200...9 or something - I was living in Hackney at the time and was often listening to Rinse FM where there was a lot of UK funky being played which I absolutely fell in love with, including this track - 'Skanker'. I was booked to play at a night in Bristol called Work so thought it would be fun to make a VIP edit using the Masters at Work vocal of the same name for the occasion. Sent it to a couple of DJs that were playing other stuff I had done around that time and it grew from there to the point where it's still getting regular plays today from all kinds of quality DJs almost 15 years later like Ben UFO, Madam X, Modeselektor, Sam Binga, Barnt (random one but cool) and loads of others.

If you don't know it, it's one of the biggest, baddest peak time tracks ever and will flatten whatever venue you play it in with its mega drum power!

Tranter is an Aussie club icon. He's been throwing genre-blending parties and pumping out joyfully silly DJ sets for about a decade now, and his passion for finding and breaking new music with a disregard for dance music's chinstrokers has kept him at the top of his game.

Right now he's best known for co-running Melbourne party REUP, which blends rap and dance music in a way that feels ahead of the curve. REUP has laid the path for newer Melb club nights like Tresillo and Low Ton, which look to be important ingredients for the local culture and the broader Australian scene in the future.

For this mix, Tranter swayed away from rap and pulled back to his roots: bouncy, high-energy dance music across a bunch of extremely fun micro-genres. It's a party!
