Northside presents: Hayz. Hayz is a Leeds based 140 producer/DJ. Hayz has exploded onto the scene, with releases on labels such as 1Forty, Plasma Abuse and Southpoint, along with a recent ep out on Durkle Disco with NothingNice, featuring Riko Dan and Logan. Its safe to say Hayz has cemented himself in the dub/140 scene. In his mix, he goes through a range of square wave and bass heavy 140 and grime.

For April’s Bandcamp Day we bring you Focus by Stern. This isn’t your ordinary funky instrumental, at 140 BPM it checks the boundaries of UK Funky while still keeping that floor filling marching vibe to get the crowd moving. The intro builds up with a head bobbing drum pattern and a really nice flute sample that bleeds into the drop, with a faded sub bass and melodic synth hits to capture the funky genre in it’s entirety. You’ll be having ‘stern’ words with anyone who doesn’t enjoy this track!

After a successful 2017, Jakebob returns to Southpoint to round the year off in style. The Chameleon Audio native is one of the most versatile newcomers in the scene, being able switch between dark synth-driven half-time and dubwise melodies effortlessly. 

'Daily Star Dub' falls under the latter description, with Jakebob applying some fanatic sampling work coupled with his own unique sound design and arrangement to great effect. With an EP in the pipeline for early 2018, Jakebob is most certainly one of the new faces to be keeping an eye on.

Well well, what a whopper we've got here. After previously premiering his earth-shattering remix of Retrospect's 'Jewel' on Articulate Records, Fork And Knife is back on the channel, this time with a stupendous self-release. As one of our favourite artists to properly break through recently, F&K has really been smashing it recently with a no-holds-barred polymerisation of groundshaking bass, 140 grit and cascading, grime-influenced sound design. 'Ventilator' carries on that trend, with a succinct intro fully allowing that main body to sonically rupture everything in its path. Someone call the fire brigade.
