From its modest beginnings, the Swiss label Creaked has carved out a unique, colorful, adventurous and independent path of its own in the music world, appealing to both music fans and Djs with its eclectic sounds and textures. Growing international networks and community from Vevey to Manchester and Berlin to San Francisco, the imprint was first launched in Lausanne during the summer of 2004 before moving its office and headquarters to Biel/Bienne in 2018. Over two decades, surviving musical evolution and seismic industry shifts without losing its main position to support electronic music from experimental avant-pop to club sounds and beyond, the label keeps helping define the development of genres by unveiling records from newcomers to established artists. 

To mark its 20th anniversary, Creaked announces the release of "Music Falls into a Mysterious Void", a compilation bringing twenty new and exclusive gems, ten original cuts and ten remixes of emblematic tracks taken off its back-catalog that shaped the label's history with its artistry roster from the early days to the present. Freshly joined by the two brand new signings Nic as Well and Olive T, current artists such as Owelle and Inuit Pagoda rub shoulders with old pals like Larytta, Mochipet, Julien Aubert, My Panda Shall Fly and the late and greatly missed Bloodysnowman. 

With tracks including the dubby-slow-dance reinterpretation of Consor's ‘Monoski’ (2006) by Torchon & Ganj, the gorgeous IDM journey ‘Know Better, Do Better’ by Hrdvsion, the Me&Mobi’s post-electronica surgical cover of ‘Thot’ by Gaspard de La Montagne and the psychedelic-drone-ambient ‘Hamada’ by Al-Sarwib, this celebratory release encompasses a broad and stylistic range of the label's output. 

Highlights of the compilation contain Baltimore mastermind The Soft Pink Truth's rework of 2010’s ‘All Men Must Die’ by Sutekh, Bristol artist Galtier with his slamming remix of ‘Stride’ by Isolated Lines, ‘Who Took This Base Out?’ by Zürich geek minimal techno producer Cosili and pop wave hero Buvette's remix of ‘Clair de Lune’ by Los Orioles. 

While UK artists Ikonika appears with her infectious remix of Oy's ‘First Box Then Walk’ and Elsa Hewitt transforms Verveine's ‘Veine R #1’ into a subtle and delicate version, Parisian hybrid house genius Sunareht rounds off the ceremony with his majestic remix of Scarlett’s ‘Give Up’. 

Mastered by Samuel Vaney and art designed by Monokini, this selection of tracks is way more than just a compilation— this is 20 years of music activities, all packed together in one. Creaked’s tale is the slow rise of a real indie record label with multiple sounds and a wide roster from the ground up, learning through error and success, listening and always adapting without becoming jaded or losing its passion. With "Music Falls into a Mysterious Void", the label showcases its forward-thinking vitality through looking behind and braving into the future.

As we turn over into 2016, AEON head honcho Alex Niggemann takes the reins for AEON’s second release in the New Year... and what an EP it is. As a DJ, producer and label boss, Alex’s production focuses on the more soulful and wistful side of Techno. With two solid original tracks and a very strong remix from Mathew and Nathan Jonson’s familiar project Midnight Operator, this release is another in the line of high quality techno AEON has become synonymous of.
Starting off with ‘Angular’, the A-side, a rising feeling of suspense progressively builds into a melodic trance. Layers seamlessly blend together, lead by an array of arpeggio-ed synthesisers. All of this is beautifully interlinked with stripped back, subtle drum patterns..
‘Convection’ brings a slightly more percussive based overlay of sound design. Layers of hats and drone like sounds build slowly until an uplifting breakdown, familiar in Alex’s productions, cuts through the track. On remix duties, Mathew and Nathan Jonson alias Midnight Operator brings a fresh approach to ‘Angular’. A psychedelic introduction builds up to a climax, before dropping right down into a very unique stripped back break beat.
Angular EP is another release of quality techno from AEON, a label that is hitting all the right notes with its output, and is fast becoming a fixture in many international DJs’ bags.

Nathan Jonson returns for his second outing on 20/20 Vision with ‘Business’ featuring an outstanding remix from Mathew Jonson. 

The Jonson brothers have been synonymous with cutting edge electronic music ever since their arrival in the scene in the early 2000s, both heavily contributing to the renowned Canadian labels 'It Is What It Is’ and ‘Wagon Repair’. Nathan is the man behind HRDVSION, and represented on imprints with a solid catalogue of genre spanning releases. Nathan has performed worldwide as HRDVSION, it’s definitely worth checking out his Boiler Room session and Zur Wilden Renate set from the capital of club culture, Berlin. 

For his recent output Nathan has returned to his family name to produce new releases including last years excellent ‘Cross Colours’ with Luke Vibert on remix duties. Here he unleashes the strongest track in his current style ‘Business', a very fresh slice of edgy electro funk served up with analogue squelch and tight drum programming. Deep’a & Biri curate a bevy of much-respected underground techno specialists to further unravel and reimagine the vital and sophisticated sounds of ‘Dominance’, their full-length LP released earlier in 2018.

Midnight Operator, the collaborative project of Mathew and Nathan Johnson, begin the set with their trippy and transcendent take on ‘False Memories’. A rare remix from the pair, their return has been worth the wait; an expertly executed techno excursion, it simultaneously burrows deeper into the psychedelic textures of the original, while providing a club-centred kick.

Further blending the experimental and the physical, Peter Van Hoesen provides a typically complex and compelling take on Voltage, deconstructing the original and expanding each element in myriad, rave-specific directions.

Deep’a & Biri enlist rising Dutch DJ-producer Deniro contributes a rolling, hypnotic version of Dominance’s spectral centrepiece, ‘Alpha Cephei’, while Z.I.P.P.O. charges down a tense, big-room industrial tunnel for his interpretation of ‘Seeking Solace’, hitting on a cathartic groove after a passage of uncompromising noise.

Concluding the EP, Steinlac’h Records founder Wice reimagines ‘Theories of Loneliness’ in dubby but propulsive fashion.

"Dubstep may have a monopoly on wobble, but Tom Demac strikes back on "Critical Distance Pt. 2," a surly brawler of a house track whose shuddering low end recalls Azzido da Bass' 1999 anthem "Doom's Night." It kicks off relatively demurely, with a crisp, shuffling drum groove fleshed out with tuned toms and watery string pads. But that melancholy restraint gives way to something far more primal. That bass has something to do with it, poised somewhere between foghorn blast and the bellow of a wooly mammoth, and a yowling vocal melody drives home the track's essential animal nature—cornered, wounded, and entirely unconcerned with niceties like prettiness and pitch. To the contrary, the way the voice slides between the notes only adds to the drama, reinforcing the sense of being sucked down in quicksand.

That said, it would have been nice to have an instrumental version, for those occasions when you're not feeling quite so Bronze Age hunting-party, although Hrdvsion's remix also does the trick. He keeps his interventions minimal, removing the vocal and giving the drums a faintly garage-y re-shuffle. It's still plenty ominous, suffused in rolling war drums and distant banshee wail."

The 2nd part of Isis' Family Matters series shows a different side of her: “after all the years spent working and dancing in clubs, she wanted
to prove to herself that she could write a house track. She wrote the track on her first studio date right after moving to Berlin with her
boyfriend and now husband.”
Through The Night is an accomplished proof of Isis’s intentions: An uptempo house track that is at the same time driving and introspective,
romantic and nocturnal. Clocking in at close to 9 minutes, it nicely captures both Isis’s live changes at the time and the summer mood of her
new home.
Family does matter - so this time around her brother-in-law Nathan Jonson (aka Hrdvsion) is taking over remix duties, and he does so in
distinguished fashion, turning “Through the Night” into a wobbly, twitchy, cut-up party monster across two different versions. Definitely a
secret weapon for any house DJ that craves for fidgety vibes, anthemic vocals, and a bombastic drop to play at the right time.
The final track of the pack is once mote a take by Latin freestyle veteran Jorge Ojeda, whose remix brings out those 80s Miami bass vibes
that we love so much. For all of you out there who - just like us - cannot get enough of Jorge's Latin Freestyle Mixes we have many more of
