Enter the sinister sight of the utmost abyss. Degredo hereby unveils its third demo, a threatening journey into the nethermost void. In the course of five hymns, the portuguese numinous vultures emanate a mesmerizing draught of impervious Black Metal, a cryptic ritual of brimming devotion to cursed paths shrouded with blood and magick. A Noite Deus A Temeu is a sonically austere tome perpetuated by a ceremonial aura, where distant currents of six-string trance are intertwined with a funereal rhythm section, elemental traits which prompt the ghastly presence of the sepulchral narrator, a vessel of the Old Ways, the voice of archetypal venom.
Released by Harvest of Death on a pro-tape edition, limited to 50 copies, A Noite Deus A Temeu stands as a primal exalt of the dark pathways of our ancestors, a sacred heritage honored under the sign of empyreal Black Metal sorcery.

DEGREDO (Por) - A Noite Deus A Temeu [2017]

Set to be released on both vinyl and cassette, this split features two of the harshest and most haunting Portuguese black metal hordes. Starting off are TRONO ALEM MORTE, who offer two exclusive tracks which breathe a desolate 'n' desperate fury, irascible and irrational, like an endless howling into the void; these tracks preclude their forthcoming debut album in December, to be released at Invicta Requiem Mass III. On the flipside are VETALA, one of the most prolific bands in the nowadays raw Portuguese scene. Their lengthy, 13-minute contribution here continues that hysteric spree of misery, exploring all corners of their boundless dungeon in an almost improvisatory delirium; their Demo IV is forthcoming, so beware.

The vinyl version of this split will also see release on December 2nd at Invicta Requiem Mass III.

TRONO ALÉM MORTE / VETALA (Por) - Sample [2017]

The elusive pathway of a lone wolf, mysterious US entity Ärid has kept a cryptic and sepulchral existence since the unveiling of it's inception in 2015. With an aggressive and lawless output of highly abrasive raw Black Metal, this swarm of sheer desolation returns in 2017, after a year of silence, with a new demo entitled “Neglect, Filth, Suffering…”. In over 20 minutes of decrepit hate, Ärid unleashes a malignant display of profound negativity on a corpus of bone shattering riffs, an aggressive rhythm ensemble and the vocal performance of absolute hellish scorn and disgust. Amid the intensity of its cancerous aura, further mid-paced transitions evoke an atmosphere of impending dread and repulse, engulfing the essence of Ärid’s hypnotic spite with an immense weight of malevolent charisma. 

Released by Harvest of Death on a cassette tape edition limited to 50 copies, Neglect, Filth, Suffering… stands as a mark of foul Black Metal misery intended to further betray human life into a cluster of perpetual void.

UNHOLY VAMPYRIC SLAUGHTER SECT (Usa) - Fucking On Altars Still Warm [2017]

Although their origins are unknown and identities willfully cloaked in a shroud of obscurity, it is known that the band have two public recordings in 2017 - a four-song demo as well as a split tape with esteemed Portuguese raw-scene kingpins VETALA, both through HARVEST OF DEATH - but hereby unleash what is their first full-length recording, O Olhar Atento da Escuridão. Haunting and harrowing in equal measures, this is the desperate howl from the deepest abyss.

Much like their contemporary countrymen, TRONO ALEM MORTE take significant influence from France's legendary Black Legions, but by no means are they exclusively tethered to such an iteration of black metal. For across the six-song/45-minute O Olhar Atento da Escuridão, this shadowy quartet will into being a whole host of malodorous sounds, emitting wave upon wave of parched-throat hollering and bent-completely-askew strings, their overt (and unapologetic) rawness a deliberate aesthetic conceit - for within those cracked cobblestones lurk yet more horrors, both metaphysical and emotional. Above all, that is TRONO ALEM MORTE's true trump card: sheer, stultifying emotion, run riot and rawly. An abject rejection of modernity, a plunge into a medieval dungeon knowing no time nor space: the atmosphere of O Olhar Atento da Escuridão becomes its own philosophy.

Hark! The time is at hand to bear witness to a new wave of Portuguese disease 'n' defiance. It shall be named O Olhar Atento da Escuridão, and it is ushered forward by TRONO ALEM MORTE.

Originally released earlier this year in an extremely scant edition of 30 copies, Pralayic Beheading continues the sorcerous swirl laid out by the band's first The Fiery Path demo last year. A concurrent project of Fortress of the Olden Days mainman Entheogen, ZALMOXIS create a strangely alluring fog of black metal drowning in dissonance and dislocated melody, rife with grim abandon but always on the verge of self-combustion. It's an incredibly distant sound that's paradoxically engaging, and HARVEST OF DEATH is honored to spread ZALMOXIS' early propaganda henceforth.

Originally released back in 2010, when the raw Portuguese black metal scene was a heavily guarded secret only discovered by the most depraved, Satanic Morbid Metal indeed accomplished its title and then some: although continuing the dark, disgusting work laid down by Black Circle forerunners Irae and Mons Veneris, VETALA here brazenly unveiled an exquisitely twisted vision of black metal, clanging and crazed and almost accidentally avant-garde yet with a truly unique and malformed melodicism that nevertheless had those who had the good fortune to hear it questioning the band's very sanity. Bolstered by renewed artwork, this new edition of the album coincides with the band's special appearance at Invicta Requiem Mass IV, set to take place November 30 in Porto, Portugal. No better time, then, to worship the old gods anew with VETALA's Satanic Morbid Metal!

If the raw Portuguese black metal scene has (rightfully) reaped renown or at least reverential infamy, then VETALA's third full-length strike shall be the sonic vomit to ruin everyone's day. For over a decade now, exploring the most depraved and transgressive corners of what BLACK METAL can be has marked this duo as nigh-on untouchable. Unrepentantly noisy, accidentally avant-garde, furiously FUCK OFF: although continuing the dark, disgusting work laid down by Black Circle forerunners Irae and Mons Veneris, VETALA have become an idiom unto themselves. And now, with the aptly titled Retarded Necro Demential Hole do the duo abase themselves and bow down before the all-consuming powers of ritual retardation; these four, nameless songs have no reason to exist, if only to rain feces on good taste and any and all conceptions of "black metal." In fact, it's so beyond primitive and artlessly improvisational, so nightmarishly unhinged, one could qualify it as PRE-black metal.

Exquisitely twisted as always, clanging and crazed and amorphously wandering into landscapes far too perverse to grasp, Retarded Necro Demential Hole is the final punctuation, the last severed shred of sanity, for Portuguese black metal.

HARVEST OF DEATH is proud to present VOËMMR's highly anticipated second album, O ovnh intot adr mordrb, on LP & CS.

A so-far-shadowy entity, VOËMMR hail from the currently-hot Portuguese raw black metal scene. Specifically, the band is a part of the clandestine Aldebaran Circle, which includes ORDEM SATÂNICA, TRONO ALÉM MORTE, and OCCELENBRIIG. Like those contemporaries, VOËMMR eschew any sort of social-media presence - or any internet presence at all, for that matter - preferring instead to work on their bewitching black metal conjurations far away from any sort of ego-enhancing public awareness; their means and methods are, rather, rooted in the ancient ways of the '90s, like their massively prolific (and massively fuck-off) forebears in the French Black Legions.

Continuing the compelling uncomfort of their Sombr Moebrd demo from 2018, this inscrutable and stratifying cult continue their assured, almost effortless plunge into the abyss with a brand-new 44-minute recording. If VOËMMR's alternately celebrated/feared debut album, 2017's Nox Maledictvs, was the sound of the cult crawling through the shadows for the first time - and in the process, locating shimmeringly ugly magickal frequencies, sick and rotten and malnourished yet somehow strangely beautiful in their malodorous malaise - then O ovnh intot adr mordrb sounds like that cult striding boldly beyond the shadows. That signature sound, as lasciviously laid out on Nox Maledictvs, is here more urgent, more manic, more hysteric, the ritualism of yore reigned into an altogether more focused maw of desolation and dread: pounding, persistent, passionate. As ever, their usage of unnervingly insistent organ has developed into a perversely beautiful/eerie counterpoint to the ripped-raw black metal beneath - as above, so below - thus making VOËMMR's iteration of black metal all the more idiosyncratic. Furthering that idiosyncrasy is their continued usage of the strange, cryptic dialect created by legendary French forebears Belketre.

Enigmas either die or grow stronger. With O ovnh intot adr mordrb do VOËMMR prove the latter.

DEGREDO - E Foi Assim No Século Passado (Sample 2019)

MONS VENERIS are one of the most oldest names in Portuguese black metal – and also one of the most prolific. Feverishly so, in fact, driving deep into the delirium that only they know, MONS VENERIS’ recordings are many and varied; from dungeonic chaos to hysteric thrashing to even haunting minimalism and plenty of ritualistic points in between, the mysterious entity always keep the legions guessing.  

Such is the case with their Mons Veneris 10” EP. Comprising two 10-plus-minute side-long tracks, MONS VENERIS’ latest conjuring from the void tells a tale that takes two different paths, and both equally challenging. On Side A is “Ritual of a Neverending Doom,” which slowly and eerily builds around creepshow organ and tribal drums, the tortured voices and guitars animalistic but far from fully improvisational; in fact, the directive is clear here, hypnotically gnawing at the listener, and mental meltdown is assured. On Side B is “A Scythe Infested with Plagues…,” hypnosis begins with a filthy, clanging pulse and then downshifts into an equally filthy march laced with no small amount of misery and melancholia; that that misery & melancholia then transform into wounded melodicism is surprising…or perhaps not, given the band’s always-defiant nature.
