Windham Hill Records was an independent record label that was originally known for acoustic music but later became associated with New Age. Like ECM Records, 4AD, Stones Throw, etc., it's one of those labels with an unmistakable aesthetic, and its music defies easy categorization: the "genre" is simply Windham Hill, and that's that. While some may equate their music to white paint, their catalog also comprises serious heat. I aim to share the latter with you through my new mix. Hope you enjoy it 🍂

Coming up from the basement this week, a timeless music connoisseur, Kenya Bahana Sastropawiro, affectionately known as Kenya. Immersed in rhythmic instruments from an early age, she comes from a "grass-rooted" musical family. Joining the legendary Yogyakarta based collective, Energyroom, in the early 2018. The exploration of different dance floors since her childhood has honed her intuition and allowed her to create a diverse palette of personal grooves.

Her musical selections had a variety of styles, from every revolution with a slightly different rhythm to a powerful wide frequency range rhythmic beats, and pulsating bass lines to delicate melodic tones, where it could shake the ground with sub sonic frequencies while also representing the fragile side to it. 

The mix she crafted is a complete sensory experience, flowing in to the glitchy textures of sound and present a dynamic narrative. Through her exploration experimental techniques, her mix is blend deeply into genre fusion, pushing the boundaries to deliver a frankly temperamental and engaging emotional depth experience. It was her pure instinctive expression.

His sets are a blend of coldwaves, experimental synths, and forgotten cassette gems, often exploring the underground scenes of Eastern and Central Europe.
