Sun'
American funk group from Dayton, Ohio, led by Byron Byrd.

Sun was a brainstorm of Byron Byrd, a young Ohioan given to stargazing and eventual pursuits of Aerospace engineering and research science, developing the use of wireless microphones and guitars for the stage. But music began for him as a hobby. Byron's first bands were Over Night Low and the Ohio Majestics, which gigged around the area and as support for acts like The O'Jays and The Spinners. The horn section even cut a session for James Brown at King Studios for VP Henry Glover. Members of this band included James "Diamond" Williams, Marvin "Merv" Pierce and Clarence "Chet" Willis, all of whom went on to The Ohio Players. It was in 1974 that Over Night Low, while opening for Mandrill at the Ohio Theatre in Columbus caught the attention of record producer Beau Ray Fleming, who'd worked with Mandrill, Jon Lucien and Zulema up to this point. He heard them on stage and came from the dressing room to peep the scorching band - up close. At the after party, Beau was doubly surprised to see them again. Determined to connect he went backstage, met the players and they exchanged numbers. In under a year, he flew back to Dayton from his New York offices with contracts in his briefcase. Sensing the need for a stronger band concept, Byron, Beau and the group began searching for a new name, something that would give them a more universal and cosmic vibe. Beau said Celestial Sun, but band member John Wagner suggested they make it less of a mouthful and just call it Sun. They thought surely somebody already had that name, but they didn't. Thus. Sun was born. Shortly after that, the group was being signed to Capitol by Larkin Arnold.

Depuis 2008, le duo Beesmunt Soundsystem, basé à Amsterdam, promène aux quatre coins du monde leur sélection immense d'exotismes musicaux en tous genres. Officiant chaque mois sur les ondes de Red Light Radio, ils sont de ceux qui aiment voyager au long cours, quelque part entre electronica, tropical house, choses lentes ou electro rêveuse, ambiances et abstractions. Beesmunt Soundsystem c'est également une dizaine d'EPs dans la même veine, construits comme un jardin d'hiver permanent. De quoi enchanter le temps d'une fin de soirée les murs de la scène 3.

Bio
Hubert is a natural researcher, spending most of his time in a true quest for musical rarities and jewels, selected from a myriad of styles and possibilities. As he uncovers them, he turns to editing just to enable a perfect mix during his sets, usually fulfilled with influences of Disco-Rock, Afro-Beats, Oldschool, Balearic, House, Deep, electronic, 90’s,80’s.

Hubert spins in São Paulo’s main night clubs and special projects. He’s often seen behind the decks at D.EDGE and parties like Capslock, ODD for instance, and had an active participation in the city’s music scene evolution, playing in the iconic (and extinct) Vegas Club and many other places. He was one of the creators of the Diamond project, which took music to very exotic places around town, this project happened at the Trackers Club, place where Hubert plays since CAPSLOCK’s first editions.

Nowadays, he is a resident at Laço, a project idealized for artistic intervention using music, images, print material and many other media, and he works with the duo Modular Dreams as a music collaborator creating sounds for their projects together.

Throughout his career, Hubert has played alongside great names of the international music scene, such as: Pilooski, Wagoon Cookin, Darshan Jesrani (Metro Area) Hercules and Love Affair, Silver City, Fernando Pulichino, Julian Sanza, Neighbour, Rayko, Sou Clap, Ali Love, Inkswell, Dj Esa, Auntie Flo, Pachanga Boys (Superpitcher & Rebolledo), Zombies in Miami, Soul Clap, Jennifer Cardini, Jonas Kopp, Axel Boman, Steven Julien / Funkineven.
