With what was mostly a full and fruitful year for us with many beautiful moments, we now turn our eyes forward to what is looking to be a very exciting year for us at Phonica as we walk into our 20th year of being alive. 2022 saw our mix series get even more killer contributions from artists like Paramida, Sally C, Fred P, Eden Burns, Alex Kassian, Erol Alkan and more. 2023's series line up plans to keep moving up and we have opened this years mix season in the capable hands of two of the finest DJ/Producers doing it right now. Bringing nothing but powerful, euphoric and goddess energies it can only be Octo Octa and Eris Drew of T4T Luv NRG. Amazingly celebrated for their strand of psychedelic, rolling progressive, trancey-house and break rhythms we can't think of two better selector's to take on our series. With an excellently curated compilation and mix for our good friends at Fabric last year as well as two banging cassettes on T4T we can't begin to imagine what this year has in-store for Maya and Eris but we have no doubt it's even more on the upward trajectory! Most likely to the heavens and back! We had a chat with Maya and Eris to see what they have been up to lately and little about how they approached the mix.

Berlin can be a little crowded – that’s why it’s always exciting to see a DJ move through the ranks and cement their place amidst the melting pot.

ābnamā has been building a reputation – playing at parties around the city, some well known and others for those in the know.

Appearances at the likes of Buttons, Cocktail d’Amore and Body Language have helped to cement an identity as a fierce, fast paced selector with a unique style. It was at Body Language that this mix was recorded, a wild two hours of vinyl only madness which we can only imagine blew the roof off.

ābnamā is also involved in the running of queer party DUMP and formerly Climax. Originally from Tehran and now based in the German capital – we anticipate that you might be seeing a lot more from ābnamā over the coming years and judging by this mixtape… if you do you better dress to sweat.

Bennet made their Body Language debut on 12.08, serving up an all-vinyl masterclass in the Queer and joyful roots of rave! 

Picture this: it’s 5:30 in the morning and you’re on a sexy, sweaty Body Language dancefloor. The crowd is a sea of smiles, and the dancefloor is literally dripping from the heat of the moment as Bennet traverses through oldskool house, early progressive house and trance, breaks, and early rave hymns.

Rooted in Hannover’s local scene, Bennet is part of the DJ-collective soft spot, co-founded the party series Buttercup and holds a residency at Weltspiele.

Bennet started mixing their favorite vinyls during lockdown, seeking for affects and energetic repercussions of the imaginative dance floor. Going all across the board, they always recur to the dancefloor’s utopian notions of togetherness and unity and political dimensions of the body.

The mix is a connected story of energy for the body and mind that leaves you in a higher frequency when the music stops.

"A big inspiration for this set was the queer UK club scene of the mid 90’s, with labels like Sharp Recordings and Higher State Records.
It's an excerpt of my garden closing at Body Language (at Re:mise in Berlin) back in August 2023.
It is very high energy - 90’s restless belters only - so it will be perfect for a little dance at home, or working out for example."


Body Language resident, @bpm131bpm has played their first all vinyl-only closing garden set in the club, and it’s brilliant. Luckily, it’s been recorded for us to immortalise online for everyone who was unlucky enough not to be present at its incarnation.
