Due to the terrible situation in which the people from Ukraine find themselves, we are donating all profits from our vinyl and digital record sales to the initiative "Spendenbrücke Ukraine", which is doing an incredibly good job here in Berlin.

The initiative is responding to the wave of solidarity, the numerous offers of help from Berliners. The "Spendenbrücke-Ukraine" is a contact point for voluntary commitment as well as for donations in kind and money to support the people affected by the Ukraine war. Subsequent to their formidable collabo with Max Delius a few months prior, Andreas Schuller and Jay Nagel deliver the next tracks for RFR. “Bionic Jelly” still moves in style within the croudian sound biotope, yet places the tooly aspect a little bit more in the foreground.

“It’s a match” starts restrainedly with dubby breakbeats, being driven forward by echoes and reverb. Rattling percussions jump on the sonic carpet and little by little increase the intensity of this funky opener. Yep, that fits!

„Stomache Grind“ comes around the corner way more relaxed than its title may suggest. Nothing indigestive is presented here, in contrary a digestif made of all the ingredients which crouds are famous for: Melody, broken beats, elaborately composed dub patterns and a dose of finesse.

Heavy 90s vibes in the final track of this EP. Kinda reminiscent of Luke Vibert in his best Rephlex days. Minimal, interlaced and mystical. “Shifting Space” not only moves space, but also time. Because this is what’s needed in order to enjoy the true depth of this track.

In dieser Folge habe wir Elisabeth Steffen aus dem „about blank“ zu Gast die mit uns nicht nur über das „Mini-Blank“ sondern auch über alles andere spricht, dass diesen Club so einzigartig macht.  

Das about blank ist seiner Selbstzuschreibung nach ein „linksradikaler“ Techno-Club mit Wurzeln in der Anti-AKW-Bewegung, der Hausbesetzer*innen und Quer-Feministischen-Szene und ist bis heute einer der politischsten Clubs Berlins.

Wir sprechen mit Elisabeth Steffen über Gendergerechtigkeit im Club-Betrieb, über Türpolitik und Rassismusvorwürfe sowie über die Folgen der Gentrifizierung auf die unterschiedlichen Sub-Kulturen. Ach, und dann ist da ja auch immer noch der geplante Ausbau der A100 der weite Teile unserer geliebten Clublandschaft bedroht. Ihr merkt schon, es wird Politisch.

Vief’s next fundraiser compilation, as voted for by the 14 contributors to the release, is raising money for Palestine Solidarity Campaign to aid their work in building public support for an end to atrocities currently taking place in Gaza.

Following the Hamas-led attack on Israel on 7th October 2023, the disproportionate response by the Israeli armed forces and government has led to (at the time of writing):

• At least 31,923 people killed, of which more than 13,000 are children (Al Jazeera)
• The destruction or damage of more than half of Gaza’s homes (360,000 residential units) (Al Jazeera).
• ‘Catastrophic’ levels of hunger for more than 1 million people and an ‘imminent’ famine in northern Gaza (the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification).

On 26th January 2024, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to take “immediate and effective measures” to protect Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip from the risk of genocide by ensuring sufficient humanitarian assistance and enabling basic services. Amnesty International and Oxfam have accused Israel of defying this ruling.

“Israeli authorities are not only failing to facilitate the international aid effort but are actively hindering it. We believe that Israel is failing to take all measures within its power to prevent genocide.”
