Ahead of its forthcoming compilation “House Of Riviera” Mona Musique releases a sampler EP that contains three tracks selected by label manager @NickV , taken from the golden age of Italian House Music, two of which are exclusive to the EP.

Side A is “I Have Got It” by @RickyMontanari and Davide Ruberto under the alias Riviera Traxx, a moniker shared with various other Riviera producers. Released in 1997, this is the only track that is out of the 1991/1993 time scale that the compilation focuses on, standing alone thanks to its tough hypnotic drum beat and diva vocal stabs that are very reminiscent of the Junior Vasquez NY Sound Factory era. This was initially featured on Riviera Traxx 4 in 1997, the fourth and final release of the cult “Riviera Traxx” series on legendary Italian label Irma records.

On the B side are two cuts that are typical of the deep and emotional vibe of classic Riviera House productions of the early 90s. Firstly @Ivan-Iacobucci, Fabrizio Cini and Nicola Dragani deliver “Tribal Love” under the name of Anxious. Initially released in 1992 this was the B side cut of the Saxample EP the first release of Hole records one of the first underground House labels in Italy run by @Ivan-Iacobucci that enjoyed over 30 releases over the 10 following years. Subway Ground Master complete the release with the superb “Queensway” taken from their only ever release in 1992 on Calypso, a sub-label of Irma records.

To celebrate their 10th anniversary, London DJ, tastemaker and label collective https://soundcloud.com/slothboogie have curated their first album project, ‘Dancing With Friends’ set for release on 26th June.
SlothBoogie started back in 2010 as a blog run by a group of mates curating house and disco sounds which quickly grew into a highly engaged core community from all over the world. Dance music fans would flock to the site for daily discoveries of the latest edits and long forgotten underground tracks. At its peak the site would regularly hit 10,000 unique visitors a month. Now, some 10 years later, SlothBoogie are one of the most respected underground music collectives in London playing host to beloved parties, a weekly radio show and guest mix series, and running their hotly tipped record label. Dancing With Friends’ is a 17 track exploration of the distinctive and varied SlothBoogie soundscapes, and will be available as a 4 track vinyl sampler, with a mixed and unmixed digital compilation. Limited edition T-shirts will also be available via Everpress.
Covering a wide spectrum of styles, brooding cuts from Levan and Philippa showcase silky smooth deepness, while later, Ninja Tune affiliate Letherette and Kassian hint at the rawness of the UK House aesthetic leading on to Detroit infused textures from Ruff Stuff and the late night jazziness of Soul Wun. A reflection of SlothBoogie’s commitment to curating the best in underground dance music and giving a platform to new artists in the scene, ‘Dancing With Friends’ will open minds to a world of dance music you never knew existed and offer a warm embrace to those who’ve been supporting SlothBoogie throughout their ten year journey.

WOLF Music reissue offshoot, Nothing Is Lost, strike gold again with their second release. The four track sampler cherry picks some of the greatest dub mixes to grace the legendary Easy Street label’s hall of fame, reissued and remastered.

Side A serves up two proto-house bombs dubbed out to the high heavens by the one and only Paul Simpson. Firstly, Sleeque’s sumptuous ‘One For The Money’, gets a tougher makeover with Simpson’s classic touches to the drums, echoes in all the right places and delicate splices of choice vocal refrains and piano stabs. Likewise for the A2, Simpson focuses in on that peach of a bassline from Paradise Girls – Holding Back, coupling it with Special-Intention-esque synths and cascading percussive ripples.

On the flip side, it’s a Blaze masterclass. First up, Alexander Hope (aka Josh Milan / one half of Blaze) ‘Let The Music Take You’. Produced alongside Blaze counterpart Kevin Hedge, the track gets the remix treatment from Klub Head – a further alias the two held. Honing in on the vibraphone mastery and bumping house rhythms they juice up the original with all the ethereal soul you could ever want.

Closing out the EP, a onetime collaboration between Blaze and Otis Vick, System VIII’s super soulful ‘Underground (Untouched Dub)’. Josh Milan’s exquisite and iconic vocals marry with sweet sax licks providing the perfect late night groover or, just as equally, the ultimate beachside roller.
