Rick Wade delivers three deep originals on Holic Trax this March with a Tomoki Tamura edit in tow.
One swift look at Rick Wade’s staggering back catalogue, from a career spanning more than 20 years, will attest to the Detroit-based producers raw talent in the studio, crafting grooveladen
rhythms into cuts that exemplify the word deep. In his latest EP, ‘Tech Breed’, Rick demonstrates his inimitable production prowess across three expertly forged tracks. Straight from the off you can hear Wade’s knack for creating synergy between analog gear and digital software as the title track ensues with an undulating
groove that’s quickly accompanied by subterranean synths for mesmerizing results. With ‘Groovy’ the percussion shifts to bongos, whilst ethereal atmospherics and otherworldly
notes maintain a mood both arcane and dusky. The tone then shifts in ‘Whoa Children’ with a sharp injection of funk triggered by soulful vocals and a pulsing bassline - its sultry, smooth and guaranteed to get your body moving.
In a sentence, the cuts offered up here ooze soul and vibrancy in a deep way that only Rick Wade can purvey, three warm and groovy cuts that will no doubt be finding their way into many a record bag this year. Holic Trax head honcho Tomoki Tamura delivers an equally dynamic club tool for the final offering on this excellent EP.

Raw Vibez EP contains four dancefloor oriented tracks, largely inspired by the early 90's NY / New Jersey house music sound.
Soulful chords and melodic piano sequences backed up with spoken sampled vocal is the domain of EP's opening track - "Make the Change". Groovy drums and funky basslinecombined withdeepunderground feeling - that's amix that always guarantees success on the dancefloor.

"NY Jukebox" is a blend of garage beats with punchy bass, chopped up vocals and repetitive melody composed with sampled chords, that can put listeners into a party mood easily. Funky vibe with catchy melody and shuffling percussion sets in motion all fans of truly underground dance music.
The last track, splitted into two parts "Raw Vibez Part I & II" is much more darker composition. Both parts are tribute to the roots of house and techno music. Raw 909 beat, deep bass , dirty organ samples, high pitched strings and classic synthesizer sounds from the previous era is what makes these tunes feel like a "classic" dancefloorkiller tracksfrom back in the days. Plain old school with a modern twist - this is how one could easily describe it. Does the damage everytime it's dropped - both tracksputs the whole party into a deep hypnotic state.
All tracks on the EP share a common thing: strong references to the true roots of underground house music. Fans of that kind of sound shouldn't be disappointed.

Gregory and Safak have been friends for near on a decade and they are heavily inspired buy 4x4 house from way back when. The MPC200XL is there weapon of choice and these jazz collectors certainly have endeared themselves to us. Welcome..

On remix duty we present to you an artist we hold in high regard and one that is close to our hearts at Steppers & Sleepers, https://soundcloud.com/chris-wj. Formerly of Coventry (UK) and now Massachusetts, United States, https://soundcloud.com/chris-wj is somewhat of an enigma to his following.

He concerns himself with rhythm and delivery, thanks to exposure to a percussionists ideal at a young age. His discography is modest at best, but his armory of unreleased edits and productions is mighty. His roots are subliminally Erick Morillo and early Strictly Rhythm. https://soundcloud.com/chris-wj is very much apart of our DNA here at Steppers & Sleepers as he more than anyone else is largely responsible for effecting the early years of https://soundcloud.com/augustus_gloop as a mentor. A lot more to come from this talented producer and DJ.

For the second remix on the 'STS EP' we bring to you the Mainz based https://soundcloud.com/tilman. A soulful guy and a producers, producer. We have been waiting a while to have https://soundcloud.com/tilman affect us with his wizardry and he blesses us with a truly inspiring acid house take on the 'Beat MPC'. If you collect vinyl then you will know of his https://soundcloud.com/klamauk label founded in 2008 home to a string of impressionistic cuts. a producer very much in love with samples, synthesizers and drum machines and very much in our hearts.
