Roll CALL é uma ideia que tive explorando a ideia de AGORA, na Grécia antiga, onde as pessoas debatiam os assuntos do quotidiano bem como a política. Decidi então colocar-nos (músicos) em circulo enquanto gravávamos tentando recriar aquilo que para mim seria um mundo em perfeito equilíbrio, em comunicação. Para tentar colocar isto em prática pedi a cada um dos músicos para expor uma ideia à capela. Quando essa ideia estivesse "instalada", a musica chamaria "per si" todos os outros colegas convidando-os a participar na ideia, a debate-la, a desenvolve-la, basicamente a acrescentar algo de seu ao discurso inicial do seu par. Quando terminada esta ideia a "palavra" passaria para outro colega que daria inicio de novo a todo este processo. Entendo que seria um mundo bem melhor este nosso se como na musica não houvessem fronteiras linguisticas.

I Can See You From Afar

Frank Abbinanti on piano (keyboard and inside the piano), Bob inside the piano and on piano synth detuned 1/4-tone. Some treatment (computer software) of piano sounds layered in (Bob). At times wisps of musicality seem to emerge. Surfeits of musicality are rare. Wisps are rare too, but just a bit less so.

Mount Meru is a gathering place.
 
Musicians who wander about in the open water of free improvisation return to one of their old loves: songs.
 
Because songs are friendly and volatile, but under the sheet of lightness they can bark and bite.
 
Mount Meru looks at the falling rocks, heroic achievements and at the edges of society.

Ascending Mount Meru, you look out on its big brother, the Kilimajaro. Climbing this last is the most glorious, Mount Meru is the most beautiful road.

The third release on Orre is a mini-album recorded live by Nate Wooley (on trumpet and amplifier), Daniele Martini (on tenor sax), Giovanni Di Domenico (on Fender Rhodes and electronics), Hugo Antunes (on double bass) and Chris Corsano (on drums) in Les Ateliers Claus in Brussels on May 27, 2012. This improvisation is essentially a Free Jazz exploration that uses an abstracted, almost classical jazz template. Intuitive and beautiful, the 38 minutes piece builds up to a few more intense parts that touch upon noise and have a very explicit Free Jazz feeling. Quieter parts leave more room for its abstracted influences to flourish and seek direction. The five instrumentalists seem to pull the music open into many different directions at once, quickly regrouping and allowing a natural flow to run through the whole piece. Different instruments converse with each other at different times, others add background atmosphere and texture. All five musicians, at different times and intervals, shape and steer the track into its eclectic and informed form. Like flicking channels late at night, maximizing perception and input, this is big city music that is not afraid of the small nor the overstated. This record comes with a voucher that allows for a download of mp3's as well as a video registration of the whole concert.
