This weeks mix is very special for us, as it comes from a guy who was a massive driving force behind the inception of Proxima Frequencies. Having nurtured the talent of our collective and giving us a platform via Feather Print Records and the family, we're honoured to be able to give the same back to him.


Hugoe was born the youngest of three musicians.. So naturally, from an early age, music was a huge passion.

Since Hugoe discovered his love for electronic and dance music, he has traveled the extensively exploring ambient and natural landscapes to gather inspiration to create a soft and earthy atmosphere with his music, taking samples from environments he perceives inspirational to create the sound the that is Hugoe.
While living in Japan, Hugoe held residencies at multiple clubs, and played over 10 venues across Asia where he developed a liking for the heavier side of melodic house and techno music and began exploring a faster and darker sound which he nowadays seamlessly incorporates into his DJ Style, which is showcased in this mix. 

Another on the list of achievements for Hugoe, he reps the title of co-founder of Melbourne melodic house & techno label Feather Print Records, which strongly follows the ethos of backing local talent. 

Through years of chipping away at his craft, his talents haven't gone unnoticed and Hugoe has had the opportunity to support big names both on home turf in Melbourne and internationally, backing such names as Secret Cinema, Schlepp Geist, Loco & Jam, Takkyu Ishino, Francessca Lombardo, Shin Nishimura, Sander Markey, Sahar Z, D-Nox and others.

I had such a blast playing this set, the vibe was super high and infectious on the day, and was excited to play some music for the rad crew at HORSE POWER!
Its always a blessing getting a chance to play some vinyl to a receptive crowd, although the setup was not ideal to play records, (which you will hear a few times the table was knocked by the dance floor) i thoroughly loved being able to have a chance to test a lot of the new records i have been passionately collecting recently..

This set was one of the more exciting chances i have had lately to play my favourite slot (Opening set) to explore my collection of slower and psychedelic music i have been enjoying over the course of the last year. I always appreciate having a large enough bracket of time to traverse through some genres like trance, breaks and deep house that can set a tone for the course of the evening. I hope you enjoy the journey!

While still in lockdown, we are all dreaming of that fresh water feeling of freedom that almost seems too far away.
