ACTANT: Can you tell me about your artist name PWCCA?

PWCCA: PWCCA is the Welsh name for a demonic creature or spirit, playful but dangerous. It was my evolution as a musician, a shift from my old AKA to a more defined and technically advanced sound. I also chose it because I like its written aesthetic.

ACTANT: PWCCA was born in 2019, but you produced earlier under the name Dr Cyanide. Can you tell me about the transition between the two?

PWCCA: It was the evolution that arose with the improvement of my production techniques and my ideas, although in reality, and logically, they still have some connection, since they are two AKA to produce the same style of music.

ACTANT: Why do you make music?

PWCCA: For me, it's a way of expression, entertainment and escape, I always wanted to create tools to be able to use in own DJ sets, to be able to listen to my music in the hands of great DJs… although it is true that today in my performances as a DJ, my music is what I use the least, since when I perform in Live format obviously, everything that sounds is mine, but a great motivation long ago was this.

ACTANT: The sound of your productions is  haunting, rough, extremely repetitious. What is the attraction of these sounds for you?

PWCCA: In techno music, I've always loved repetition. In fact, I think it's part of its essence. I like creating dense, dark, and dirty sounds. They particularly immerse me in an intense mental journey. Today, I don't want to give rise to frivolous sounds in my work, at least that's what I try to convey or capture.

ACTANT: As a record label, Hardtools seems to embrace a dark aesthetic, pointing at an interest in death, spirits, ghosts, and so forth. Do these realms hold a power that can be utilised in music?

PWCCA: For me, darkness, death, the universe or all of this that no one knows about, inspires me when creating my sound, I don't like to link my sound or the sound of different artists of the label, with colors or images that are not serious or more "Fun" I think that over time, I have become more strict with those things hehe, it doesn't mean that techno is this, but in my case it is what inspires me the most.

ACTANT: Where do you see techno evolving in the future? Will real, dark techno continue to expand as society continues to erode?

PWCCA: Techno will likely continue to expand because it taps into a collective sense of restlessness. It's a search for refuge, often logically linked to having fun. Many young artists will take over and maintain the essence, while others who seemed authentic will sell out to the highest bidder without flinching. It has always happened and will always continue to happen; it's part of the game.

ACTANT: What makes Spain such a powerful force in techno?

PWCCA: I think there are and have been great techno artists in Spain, influenced by the right sources. Many artists who have forged a unique and remarkable sound, known worldwide, highly influential people like Oscar Mulero, supporting national material. I think the different artists who re-emerge have a great source of inspiration without having to look too far. But only in a few cases is one a prophet in his own land...

ACTANT: Finally, who are your favorite artists and labels right now?

PWCCA: I like listening to old artists like Wünsch, Mulero, Surgeon, Regis, Portion Reform (R&F), Mugon… but today we also have a wave of brutal producers like Kike Pravda, Lakej, Lewis Fautzi, Pyramidal Decode, KØLPØS, Ribé, Endplate, Oliver Rosemann, Stanislav Tolkachev, among many others. There are great Labels like Mord, Semántica, Pole Group or Warm Up, and others, offering great stuff, but I think that a large part of the scene is also supported by labels of less “prestigious” since there are many tracks edited in these, which are used by world-class DJs.

Augusto, known as Rorschack, was born in Taranto in 1985 into a family of musicians. Mastering keyboards and drums from an early age, he transitioned to DJing, refining his skills in Rome and Florence before joining the Timeless crew in 2013, as well as Subwoofer and LGBTQI parties. His eclectic style blends electronic, techno, fast future-techno, and psytrance, earning him performances at prestigious venues like FOLD London, Tresor, and Gare Porto. In 2015, he co-founded Closer Milano, reshaping the global techno scene. His performance at HÖR Berlin in 2022 marked a turning point in his career, followed by a standout set at Stone Techno Festival 2025, which brought him further international attention. With recent appearances at Closer parties alongside Bassiani, Tresor, Vault Sessions, Hayes and Meat Free Manchester, and releases on labels like Oecus, Out of Place, BCCO and Eram Records among others, Rorschack continues to inspire with his innovative productions and deep commitment to the craft.

When techno is in your DNA you don't need additional translation to understand it.
This is the case of Hugo Rolan, a native of the north of Spain, more precisely Asturias, has been Asturias, has been exposed to techno and futuristic sounds since he was a teenager, and now in his maturity
since his adolescence, and now in his maturity we can say that he masters the language to perfection.
He has been primarily DJing for two decades, remaining under the radar 
in the local underground scene while working a conventional day job. In his spare time, he has been learning production skills, delving into music creation software and hardware, training hard and quietly until he felt it was time to go public with his work.
The wait has been worth it, and in 2022 his first work has been published onone of the most recognized ceiling labels of the moment, Warm Up Recordings, managed by Oscar Mulero, a very interesting debut album full of techno.
The second reference of his discography is released on one of the most 
important labels worldwide, nothing more and nothing less than the Axis Records owned by Jeff Mills, a work that makes us get closer to his creativity and gives us an idea of where he is heading.
Thanks to this start he has been able to publish on different labels, with works on Incense Records, Legend 1997 Records, Illegal Alien, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, SUB_tl, Prophet Recordings, Semantica Records, FautSection, Abstract Mechanisms and several VVAA on Fenómenos Records, West Rules, KeyHole Records, Voyager Recordings and Loopaina Records.

He is currently a resident of Lanna Club, where he can be found in the club's monthlymonthly program of this club.
An example of a true techno lover living in the real world,
loving the music carefully until the right moment puts him in the right place.

entenderlo, este es el caso de Hugo Rolan, oriundo del norte de España, más precisamente de Asturias, ha estado expuesto al techno y los sonidos futuristas desde su adolescencia, y ahora en su madurez podemos afirmar que domina el lenguaje a la perfección.
Ha sido principalmente DJ durante dos décadas, permaneciendo bajo el radar en la escena underground local mientras desarrollaba un trabajo diario convencional. En su tiempo libre, ha estado aprendiendo habilidades de producción, profundizando en el software y hardware de creación musical, entrenando duro y en silencio hasta que ha sentido el momento de hacer público su trabajo.

Recordings, gestionado por Oscar Mulero, un álbum de debut muy interesante y lleno de techno.
La segunda referencia de su discografía se publica en uno de los sellos más importantes a nivel mundial, nada más y nada menos que el sello Axis Records propiedad de Jeff Mills, un trabajo que nos hace acercarnos a su creatividad y nos da una idea de hacia dónde se encaminan su sonido.
