New month, new music. Our friends Philipp, Andreas and Andreas, aka Überhaupt & Außerdem and Deep Ändi, worked together on some lovely beats, which they don’t want to withhold from you.

The EP “Directions” is a collaboration between them. Everyone made a track, which ended up being remixed by the other. The concept sounded exciting from the start, and we are happy that the tracks found their way to Vienna. We'll take that as an opportunity to pop the corks in Berlin. That's right Champagne Society. If you don't want to miss this, you should rather be there.

As always, a big thanks to our two silent helpers, Kilian Van de Water for the artwork and Haunted Water for the great mastering.

Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before. 

The train runs along the sea for a time, then cuts inland. We pass tall fields of corn, grapevines, tangerine trees with yellow leaves growing on terraced hills. An occasional irrigation pond sparkles in the sunlight. A river winding through a flat stretch of land looks cool and inviting, an empty lot is overgrown with Summer grasses. At one point we pass a dog standing by the tracks, staring vacantly at the train rushing by. Watching this scenery makes me feel warm and calm all over again. “You’re going to be okay”, I tell myself, taking a deep breath. All you can do is forge on ahead and call the Ancestors. SANGEET’s giving us a spiritual downtempo ceremonia, embracing our senses with warm, positive vibes while ELFENBERG, UDASA and BEYHUDE taking care of our music pleasure in this long running journey into the inner depths of unknown places and mysterious paths. Take a deep breath, this is your one and only chance!

Behind our individual identities lie a complex sequence of events. We spend years defining who we are through experiences, ideas and thoughts. But what if identity is an illusion? What if our sense of self is constructed by millions of ideas outside our control? Does this still make us real, if only to ourselves? 

The line between the real and the illusory is delicate. Ideas, concepts and words define who we are, but they can’t be touched, they don’t physically exist. So what does exist? Does something have to be concrete and physical to be real, or are concepts and metaphors real too?

This EP is about perception. It’s about the power of ideas. It’s about embracing randomness. It's dedicated to the dreamers, the shakers, the movers and the makers. We’re all born of civilised madness, so let’s go with the flow.

Looking at the cover of this EP, we get a glimpse of the deceptions our brains are capable of, illustrated by a master of illusion, Joe Webb.
