A new journey through the Hulaverse begins with Feldermelder’s „Unusual Vacation Music“. The vinyl postcard „3 Yards of Warmth“ is the first release of a series titled „Unusual Vacation Music“, that will spread out over 2015 and carry away music lovers into obsucre worlds of sound.

„Over the years, excessive travels have brought me to most different places on this planet. This series is a kind of memory of moments and places, without focussing on a specific kind. Every song was sketched out and arranged at one of these places. Elements of the songs, even if not necessarily in the foreground, are field recordings from these spots and samples from the countries I wa travelling through. The se-ries has become a selection of songs for those memorable places that are polluted with the wrong music.“ – Feldermelder 

Feldermelder carefully creates a teetering whole out of squeking instruments, happily distorted melodies and clacking beats based on the memories, moods and recordings from around the world. The entry gates to Feldermelder’s wonderfully warm and lively world are passed through driving, bouncing, distorted but still absolutely clear sounds of „3 Yards of Warmth“. Like toys that awake to life at night: Cranking, sluggish, inter-looped ups and downs, layers of enchanting melodies. „3 Yards of Warmth“ pulls the listener deeper and deeper into a heavily breathing green and blue music land. This music haunts the ears and hearts of those who read, write and most of all listen to and enjoy Hula Honeys’ first vinyl postcard. 

Unusual Vacation Music was mastered by Adi Flück and will be release on December 19th, 2014 as vinyl postcard and digital download via the Hula Honeys Website and Bandcamp.

Hula Honeys is happy to announce the third release on their digital sublabel Hula Bytes: Coming from his year-long performing routine, ASIC has recorded two EPs that are being released via Hula Honeys and sub_perversion simultaneously. While the TAPA EP on subper.ch explores the deeper Poststep influences, the PENTAPRISM EP on Hula Honeys opens the musical spectrum towards Glitch-Hop, Techno and Bass.

The tracks are rooted in live sessions. ASIC moves through soft, harsh or wild city scapes that are ever evolving, temptingly rough and delicate at the same time.

Cut Out was recorded on the Rocking Desk, Simon Berz’ extended drum set that includes piezo microphones, loudspeakers and effects. Berz plays his instrument with an array of modified drum sticks to evoke electroacoustic sounds, effect patterns and a broad variety of feedbacks. The amplification allows close-up views of the sounding surfaces and structures, while the microphones do not only pick up the sounds played, but also the environment. The Rocking Desk embraces several sound spheres: traditional drum sounds, microscopic details and tonal feedbacks.

Bruno Schnüriger - well known for his part in Swiss dark electronic duo Echo 106 - channels his softer, melodic output through his alias Francis Juno. On his first solo album, he presents a collection of 15 tracks and interludes that draw a bow from wide-open downtempo tracks, over clackering dancefloor reminiscences to hyper-powered IDM electronica.

"Tomorrow's Nostalgia" tells the stories of arrival, timelessness and leisure, looking back and staying alive. Evoking distant memories and narratives from the subconsciousness, the album is an invitation to immerse into sound. Unsophisticated, with no urging push to the dancefloor - but a distinct drive to tap one’s foot. Charming, catchy, almost naïve at first glance, Francis Juno’s tracks reveal a mesmerizing complexity over time. Schnüriger uncovers his musical diversity and variability with every minute the record spins on the turntable. Nostalgia not as vanishing point, but as a performative time machine.

For more than a year, Bit-Tuner – the master of heavy beats – has had a monthly residency at Zurich’s „Helsinki Klub“. His live-sets mutate into excessive sessions, while Bit-Tuner grinds his beats and sounds.

„The China Syndrome“ is his first live album: recorded in the intimate setting of the Helsinki Klub, Bit-Tuner unfolds a sound trip over almost 75 minutes – in his demanding style, he combines rhythmical elements with field recordings.

Equipped with a recorder, Bit-Tuner had gone hunting for sounds, rhythms and tones in distant China. Between the noisy cities of Beijing and Shanghai, he found well known and outlandish sounds: within the humming traffic, in parks and in backyards. Gas cookers in restaurants, old mopeds and squeaking bicycles in the narrow alleys, and people singing in the park.

Bit-Tuner layers the captured sounds one by one – many samples remain raw. He combines and loops fragments, scraps of conversations, rattling snap-shots of sound. Minimal beats are added upon and deep bass lines form the base. The billowing synthesizers are played live, phrase by phrase. Over the whole duration of the live-set, Bit-Tuner develops a irresistible gravity and leads us into a distant, but well known city.

The "Hula Honeys China & Japan 2013" features Swiss contemporary live acts Feldermelder and Bit-Tuner, the DJs Nik! and Soult from the Electronic Music label Hula Honeys, as well as electronic live act NHK'Koyxen (JP) from PAN. Starting out in Beijing, the tour continues to Shanghai, Hanzhou, Guanzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Takasaki, Niigata and Osaka. 

We explore the sound of the music as we play, travel, dive into scenes. We meet people working and living with their particular music. Together with them, we look out to get a glimpse at the beating heart of electronic music in the past, present and future.

NHK'Koyxen live at Post Mountain, Beijing

Hula Honeys - another label for *emotronic sunshine* based in Zürich, Switzerland. 
We aim to provide your musical reproduction devices with special, intense, true school, open minded, imaginative and inspired music.

The Hula Honeys are a bunch of kids in the heart of tidy Switzerland, messing around with music, rather than drugs or large vehicles. They've gone the natural way: they've partied hard, they've had monumental plans and other silly ideas. Finally, 2007 was the year to go pro and make real life plans for that thing called label.  
Hula Honeys focusses on releasing locally anchored music, with loose musical connections to the electronic spheres. These could be loud, aiming at your peaktime thrills. But they also might be quiet and thoughtful, deep or crackled. The Honeys will promise a lot and maybe stay truthful to their ideas of music: true school rave, a broad musical horizon, open ears and open hearts.
