The Hot Mass podcast series is back and for the next 4 editions we'll be looking back on the past year in advance of our 6 year anniversary. Each set was record live at Hot Mass and for this round we'll be featuring two of our residents, along with two guests. 

@tabasheer is a Pittsburgh local and one of the most studious and dedicated DJs around. That dedication is shown in this mix ahead of Answer Code Request from last May. Featuring a heavy collection of atmospheric techno with hints of broken beat and electro, Tabasheer constructed a superb warm up set, leaving the dance floor primed for more.

As expected, Mike Servito, turned Open Haus completely upside down with his closing set. A shining representation of Detroit and New York, he ripped the dance floor with two hours of jacking techno, house and acid. Strap in for yet another reminder of why he’s one of dance music’s very best.

Detroit born and key component of the Honey Soundsystem collective, Jason Kendig graces the FH mix series for an hour and a bit of esteemed sonic education. Always seemingly gliding across the US, Jason made a habit of picking up residencies wherever he went. Following his stint at Detroits Motor in the late 90's, he moved to San Fran in which HS was formed with pals, Jackie House, Beziér and Josh Cheon. 

Having been a key figure in the underground scene for over decades, it's no surprise that Kendig's hour and a quarter of eclectic selections form a real comprehensive dance music offering to be savoured. Something that makes the HS squad so alluring is the energy they bring in live performances and you can almost feel that shining though the screen as you listen. With that in mind, make sure to catch Jason playing in Mexico City, New York, San Francisco, Frankfurt, Moscow, & St. Petersburg & keep an ear out for the next release on Honey Soundsystem Records from D.C. based artist Baronhawk.

A unique blend of dance music history and futurist styles. Dave Aju started out as an alias for a San Francisco experimental techno night in the early oughties. It has since become a name synonymous with a distinctive and unique blend of dance music styles. Check out the 4th studio album TXLAX and its follow up Ciao Sun EP out now on Mule Musiq.

A diverse range of influences can be heard in Aju’s unique sound - from an immersive jazz upbringing via his father, a peer of Pharaoh Sanders early on, his dedicated underground hip-hop MC years, dance floor origins at South Bay latino house clubs, techno leanings of the SF rave scene in the 90s, to even contemporary R&B/neo-soul and the outer realms of experimental post-rock and musique concrète, always imbued with a warm, handmade sonic twist and solid sense of rhythm owed to his roots as a dancer. @dave-aju
